  1. 1. Bringing predictability into a geometallurgical program : An iron ore case study

    Author : Viktor Lishchuk; Bertil Pålsson; Cecilia Lund; Pertti Lamberg; Jennifer Broadhurst; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additivity; Apatite iron ore; AIO; Block model; Change of support; Classification; Data integration; DT; Feed quality; Geometallurgical program; Geometallurgy; Iron ore; Iron recovery; Leveäniemi; Liberation; Machine learning; Magnetic separation; Malmberget; Mineralogical approach; Mineralogy; Prediction; Proxies; Proxies approach; Sampling; Simulation; Synthetic ore body; Traditional approach; WLIMS; Mineral Processing; Mineralteknik;

    Abstract : The risks of starting, operating and closing mining projects have become higher than ever. In order to stay ahead of the competition, mining companies have to manage various risks: technical, environmental, legal, regulatory, political, cyber, financial and social. Some of these can be mitigated with the help of geometallurgy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of a geometallurgical framework for iron ores - A mineralogical approach to particle-based modeling

    Author : Mehdi Parian; Pertti Lamberg; Jan Rosenkranz; Julie Hunt; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geometallurgy; process simulation; breakage characterization; ore texture; iron ore; modal mineralogy;

    Abstract : The demands for efficient utilization of ore bodies and proper risk management in the mining industry have resulted in a new cross-disciplinary subject called geometallurgy. Geometallurgy connects geological, mineral processing and subsequent downstream processing information together to provide a comprehensive model to be used in production planning and management. 3. 3. Magnetic properties of magnetosomal greigite and factors influencing its occurrence and preservation in Baltic Sea Littorina sediments

    Author : Maja Reinholdsson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Baltic Sea; deep basins; mineral magnetic properties; magnetotactic bacteria; magnetosomal greigite; laminated sapropels; organic carbon; geochemistry.;

    Abstract : The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s largest brackish water environments and is today suffering from, for example, eutrophication, spreading hypoxia, accumulations of contaminants and invasive organisms. These problems exist due to a combination of natural features that makes the Baltic Sea a sensitive ecosystem (such as long water residence time, limited water exchange, large catchment area), and anthropogenic pressures on land, (such as agriculture and land-use changes, large human populations and industries) and in the sea (such as transport, fishing and bottom-trawling). 4. 4. High intensity and high gradient magnetic separation in mineral processing

    Author : Jan A. Jirestig; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Natural minerals often lack well defined magnetic susceptibilities. Instead they must be thought of as occurring in a susceptibility range where the bulk susceptibility is affected by present impurities. Inclusions or foreign atoms in solid solution may alter a materials magnetic properties to a large extent. READ MORE

  5. 5. Geophysical 3D models of Paleoproterozoic Iron Oxide Apatite mineralization’s and Related Mineral Systems in Norrbotten, Sweden

    Author : Oskar Rydman; Maxim Smirnov; Thorkild Maack Rasmussen; Tobias Bauer; Niklas Juhojuntti; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Magnetotellurics; 3D Inversion modelling; Classification; Potential fields; Mineral system; Petrophysics; mineral exploration; common earth modeling; iron oxide-apatite; Northern Norrbotten ore province; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics;

    Abstract : The Northern Norrbotten ore district hosts a multitude of Sweden’s mineral deposits including world class deposits such as the Malmberget and Kirunavaara Iron oxide apatite deposits, the Aitik Iron oxide copper gold deposit, and a multitude of smaller deposits. Northern Norrbotten has been shaped by tectonothermal events related to the evolution of the Fennoscandian Shield and is a geologically complex environment. READ MORE
