  1. 1. Controlling angiogenesis : functional studies of angiomotin

    Author : Mira Ernkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The expansion of a blood circulatory network by the process of angiogenesis is essential for embryonic as well as postnatal growth. Deregulated blood vessel formation may also negatively contribute to the pathogenesis of diseases, e.g. cancer and diabetic retinopathy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Developing IPM tools for greenhouse cucumber production in Sweden – a participatory action research approach : control of the European tarnished plant bug and cucurbit powdery mildew

    Author : Mira Rur; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Two of the most important plant protection problems in Swedish cucumber production are the European Tarnished Plant Bug (ETPB), and Cucurbit Powdery mildew (CPM). The control of the ETPB relies on Imidacloprid, a pesticide, which breaks down slowly and is harmful to beneficial insects. READ MORE

  3. 3. Interactions between surfactants and starch : from starch granules to amylose solutions

    Author : Isabel Mira; Per Claesson; James N. Bemiller; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; food science and technology; polymer chemistry; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : Starch is a mixture of two polysaccharides, amylose (AM) and amylopectin, which occurs naturally in the form of microscopic granules that are abundantly found in tubers, roots, cereal grains and fruits. In order to bring out their functional properties as thickeners and texture enhancers, starch granules are often disrupted by heating in excess water. READ MORE

  4. 4. Role of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase in bone remodeling

    Author : Laia Mira-Pascual; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase is a metalloenzyme that exists as two isoforms: the monomeric TRAP 5a and the proteolytically cleaved TRAP 5b, responsible for phosphatase activity, which is highly expressed in osteoclasts (OCs). TRAP 5b has been used as a serum marker of bone resorption, as it correlates with the absolute number of OCs and with resorption markers such as CTX-I. READ MORE

  5. 5. Corrective maintenance maturity model : problem management

    Author : Mira Kajko-Mattsson; Ned Chapin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; System design; Maintenance process models; Systemutveckling; data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Sciences;

    Abstract : Maintenance has become one of the most complex, crucial and costly disciplines within software engineering. Despite this, very few maintenance process models have been suggested. The extant models are too general, covering all maintenance categories, i.e. READ MORE
