1. Toward first-principles understanding of carbonitride precipitation in steels
Abstract : The most important and widely used group of metallic alloys is steels, whichare alloys of the element iron together with carbon and usually other elementssuch as B, N, V, Nb and Cr. The strength in these alloys is closely connectedto the distribution of point defects, precipitates and grain boundaries whicheffectively act as obstacles for dislocation migration. READ MORE

2. Theoretical studies of boron and transition-metal carbonitride additions in steels
Abstract : Martensitic 9-12%Cr steel alloys are today widely used as critical components in fossil-fired steam power plants with steam temperatures up to 600°C, where sound oxidation resistance and excellent creep strength are required. Their strength and long-term creep resistance are closely connected to the presence and stability of Cr-rich M23C6 (M = Cr, Fe) carbides and densely distributed MX precipitates (M = transition metal, X = C or N), which effectively act as obstacles for dislocation migration. 4. The Role of Interfacial Microstructure of Perovskite Thin FIlms - A High Resolution and In Situ Study
Abstract : Perovskite based materials have recently shown to have many unique properties that make them suitable for future electronic devices. In this thesis, the role of the interfacial microstructure on the properties of perovskite thin film heterostructures has been investigated. READ MORE

5. Leveraging HVPE for III-V/Si Integration and Mid-Infrared Photonic Device Fabrication
Abstract : This work covers the implementation of highly specialized epitaxial techniques enabled by the near-equilibrium hydride vapor-phase epitaxy growth process in III-V/Si integration for Si-based tandem solar cells and photoelectrochemical reactions, quasi phase matching GaP structures on GaAs substrates, and regrowth of InP:Fe on quantum cascade lasing structures.III-V/Si integration is an important topic in several fields of research with a significant one being solar energy harvesting.
