    Abstract : The widespread use of mobile devices and their integration in our everyday ac- tivities is changing the way we communicate, share information, and learn. The rapid adoption of powerful mobile devices also offers new opportunities to sup- port teaching and learning. READ MORE

  3. 3. On distributed real-time systems : the mStar environment, net-based learning and context-aware applications

    Author : Kåre Synnes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distribuerade datorsystem; Mobile and Pervasive Computing;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis presents two frameworks for distributed real-time systems, the mStar environment for Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) and the Alipes architecture for context-aware applications, from the perspective of distributed teamwork and net-based learning. The mStar environment was designed to be symmetric and fully distributed, which allows all users equal access and thus full interactivity, as well as scalable through the use of IP multicast and a server-less design. 4. 4. The mStar environment : scalable distributed teamwork using IP multicast

    Author : Peter Parnes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distribuerade datorsystem; Mobile and Pervasive Computing;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the question of how a scalable, distributed teamwork environment should be designed and realized. Central design criteria includes that the system should be scalable and robust, allow for easy access and be symmetric. READ MORE

  5. 5. Towards a Mobile Learning Software Ecosystem

    Author : Oskar Pettersson; Marcelo Milrad; Jesper Andersson; Richard Torkar; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Technology-Enhanced Learning; Mobile Learning; Software Reuse; Software Ecosystem; Domain analysis; Media Technology; Medieteknik;

    Abstract : The ability to carry communication services around, combined with the ubiquitous presence of computing technology, affects everything we do from how we pay for things to how we expect to interact with public institutions such as schools. There are now plenty of systems that convey education by utilizing mobile devices. READ MORE
