1. Proteins at interfaces : modelling of the residence time effect and experimental studies
Abstract : The residence time effect plays an important role in desorption phenomena at solid liquid interfaces. The objective of this work is to set up simple models to describe the dynamics of both adsorption and desorption of proteins on a solid surface. READ MORE

2. Thermal evaporation of small molecules-A study of interfacial, bulk and device properties for molecular electronics
Abstract : Electronic devices based on organic materials have recently become an emerging technology for many applications. Promising aspects are the compatibility with almost any substrate and low cost processing methods. READ MORE

3. Biomolecules at Interfaces -Studied by Surface and Solution Techniques
Abstract : The interfacial behaviour of biomolecules in general and proteins in particular is interesting from a biochemical point of view since proteins are involved in processes such as complement activation, blood coagulation and atherosclerotic plaque formation, but also in the context of biomedical applications such as solid-phase diagnostics, therapeutic aphaeresis and biosensors. The objective of this thesis is to study biomolecular interactions using surface sensitive biosensor techniques such as surface plasmon resonance, SPR, in combination with bulk techniques. READ MORE

4. Kinetics of collector in-situ adsorption on metal sulphide surfaces studied by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy
Abstract : In sulphide mineral flotation, a sufficient hydrophobicity of the mineral surfaces is obtained by the adsorption of collector chemicals at the metal sulphide/aqueous interface. This surface alteration is of fundamental and applied interest. READ MORE

5. Designed boron chemistry for tribological systems
Abstract : Boron compounds can be environmentally friendly alternatives for commercially available lubricant additives. Some boron compounds are already used as friction modifiers, corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants and antiwear additives in lubricants. READ MORE
