  1. 1. Molecular mechanisms of nerve-tumor interactions : the intersection of cancer and neurodevelopment

    Author : Luz Maria Gonzalez-Castrillon; Sara I Wilson; Daniel Öhlund; Nisha D’Silva; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perineural invasion; cancer; PDAC; axonogenesis; neurodevelopment; spinal cord; axon guidance; bioinformatics.; biomedical laboratory science; biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Abstract : A wide range of cancers throughout the body are characterized by high nerve density and invasion of cancer cells within the nerves, a process called perineural invasion (PNI). Work in the field has shown that blocking nerves in organs with tumors leads to improved disease outcomes suggesting that finding ways to block tumor nerves could lead to new treatment approaches. 2. 2. Utility of novel drug targets for treatment of metastatic cancer

    Author : Tianyan Wang; Jenny Persson; Thomas Grundström; Maréne Landström; Margareta Wilhelm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metastatic cancer; castration-resistant prostate cancer; pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma; target therapy; PIP5K1α; KRAS; molecularly imprinted polymers; Oncology; onkologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Metastasis is the leading cause of cancer death because of a lack of early diagnosis tools and efficient treatment drugs. The lipid kinase phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5 kinase (PIP5K1α) has been shown to play a vital role in the PI3K/AKT and KRAS signaling pathways. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modeling glioblastoma heterogeneity to decipher its biology

    Author : Yuan Xie; Lene Uhrbom; Massimo Squatrito; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma multiforme; biobank; GBM cells; cell of origin; LGR5; OPCs;

    Abstract : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and lethal form of primary brain tumor that mainly affects adults. GBM displays remarkable intra- and inter-tumoral heterogeneity and contains a subpopulation of cells named glioma stem cells that is believed to be responsible for tumor maintenance, progression and recurrence. 4. 4. The role of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase type І alpha (PIP5K1α) and utility of its inhibitor for targeting metastatic cancer

    Author : Martuza Sarwar; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate Cancer; Breast cancer; Cancer therapy; PIP5K1A; PI3K AKT signal pathway; Kinase inhibitors;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common cause of cancer-related death in men after lung cancer. Annually, more than 9000 new cases are diagnosed in Sweden and 2500 of them die each year. Metastatic prostate cancer can be treated with castration. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mechanisms of intestinal tumor initiation and progression in ApcMin mouse model of colorectal cancer

    Author : Zhiyuan V. Zou; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; colorectal cancer; ApcMin mouse;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a cancer that occurs in the colon or rectum and is one of the most common cancer forms and a leading cause of cancer death in the Western world. The majority of CRCs are caused by inherited or somatic mutations in the APC gene. READ MORE
