  1. 1. Clinical and Experimental Studies on Inflammatory Bowel Disease with special emphasis on Collagenous Colitis

    Author : Michael Wagner; Marie Carlson; Maria Lampinen; Per Sangfelt; Erik Hertervig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Collagenous colitis; inflammatory bowel disease; ulcerative colitis; Crohn´s disease; faecal markers; eosinophil; T-cells; ECP; EPX; MPO; calprotectin; flowcytometry; chromogranin A; chromogranin B; secretoneurin; budesonide; Gastroenterology; Gastroenterologi; Medicin; Medicine;

    Abstract : This thesis describes studies in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and collagenous colitis (CC). We investigated mucosal eosinophil and neutrophil granulocytes and T-cells involved in the inflammatory processes and aimed at determining whether these processes are reflected in the faecal (F) contents of specific proteins secreted by cells in the intestinal mucosa. 2. 2. Pathogenesis and Diagnosis of Food Hypersensitivity in Adults

    Author : Jenny Magnusson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Birch pollen allergy; DBPCFC; Diagnosis; Duodenal mucosa; Eosinophils; Faecal samples; Food induced gastrointestinal hypersensitivity; IgE; Neutrophil MPO; T lymphocytes;

    Abstract : Objective tools to diagnose local gastrointestinal (GI) inflammatory reactions in patients with food hypersensitivity are lacking. To fully appreciate the mechanisms mediating allergy-like reactions in the GI tract and for improvement of diagnostic techniques more knowledge is required. READ MORE

  3. 3. Immunoglobulins, immunoglobulin subclass-distributions and serologic markers in some renal and systemic disorders

    Author : Gabriel Almroth; Jan Björklander; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunoglobulins; immunoglobulin-subclass distribution; hydralazine; ANCA; anti-:MPO; primary SjOgren s syndrome; hepatitis B vaccination; anti-HBssubclasses; immunoadsorption; plasmapheresis; antibodies; hepatitis C virus; transmission; recombinant immunoblot assay; hepatitis C genotype; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In this study we evaluated pathogenetic factors and possible mediators of renal and systemic disorders where immunologic mechanisms might be of importance.An abberant immunoglobulin and IgG-subclass distribution was detected in 103 patients with primary and secondary glomerulonephritis as well as in 38 patients with the systemic disease primary Sjögren 's syndrome or purpura hypergammaglobulinemica (elevated IgG1 and low IgG2 ). 4. 4. Sorting and processing of neutrophil granule proteins

    Author : Elinor Bülow; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; secretion; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; cell-specific retention; chimeric; lysosome-related organelles; secretory pathway; propeptide of MPO; azurophil granules;

    Abstract : The neutrophil granulocytes have a critical role in innate immunity in particular through phagocytosis of microorganisms. Their cytoplasmic granule subsets store digestive enzymes and antibiotic proteins that are released during this event. READ MORE

  5. 5. Proteinase 3 and Neutrophil Apoptosis in ANCA-Associated Systemic Vasculitis

    Author : Mohamed AbdGawad; Njurmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wegener’s granulomatosis; anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody ANCA . Proteinase 3 PR3 ; myeloperoxidase MPO . Flowcytometry FACS . Vasculitis.; microscopic polyangitis;

    Abstract : ANCA-Associated Systemic Vasculitis (AASV) is characterized by leukocytoclasis- dying neutrophils surrounding small blood vessels. Previous studies have shown increased plasma PR3 and increased proportion of neutrophils expressing plasma membrane-associated PR3 (mPR3+). READ MORE
