11. Traumatic isolated rupture of the knee medial collateral ligament : diagnosis and long term effects
Abstract : Isolated partial rupture of the knee medial collateral ligament (MCL) is the most common traumatic knee ligament injury. Owing to the good short- and medium-term functional results after conservative treatment, this injury has been regarded as harmless. READ MORE

12. Radiological methods in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
Abstract : The dissertation's theme is the critical role of radiology when evaluating two different groups of patients. Firstly, patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) of the cervical spine were studied to evaluate upper spine instability with dynamic computed tomography (CT). READ MORE

13. Treatment and outcome of anterior cruciate ligament injury: Truth or Consequences
Abstract : The overall aim of the work presented in this thesis was to evaluate the incidence, outcome and consequences within the 1st year of acute ACL injury of the knee. The KANON-study, a randomized controlled clinical trial comparing surgical and non-surgical treatment after acute ACL injury, was initiated and some results are included in this thesis. READ MORE

14. The normal and ACL deficient knee : an in vivo three dimensional kinematic and electromyographic analysis
Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the in-vivo 3D kinematics of the normal and ACL deficient knee. Baseline data from normal controls were compared against the pathological knee to assess whether generic functional knee braces reduced abnormal displacements. Moreover, 3D bony contact movements were derived from MRI data. READ MORE

15. High-Tc SQUIDs for biomedical applications: immunoassays, MEG, and ULF-MRI
Abstract : This thesis describes high transition temperature superconducting quantum interference devices (high-Tc SQUIDs) for magnetic immunoassays (MIAs), magnetoencephalography (MEG) and ultra-low field magnetic resonance imaging (ULF-MRI).High-Tc dc SQUID sensors were fabricated in single layers of YBa2Cu3O7−δ deposited by pulsed laser deposition and patterned using photolithography on 10×10 mm2 SrTiO3 bicrystal substrates.
