  1. 1. Environmental fate of chemicals released from consumer products : Multimedia modelling strategies

    Author : Anna Palm Cousins; Michael McLachlan; Antonio Di Guardo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multimedia fate model; urban model; PBDEs; phthalate esters; indoor environment; emissions; exposure; BDE 209; DINP; DEHP; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to assess the environmental fate and transport of chemicals emitted from consumer products through the development and application of modelling tools. The following hypotheses were tested: i) Multimedia fate models can be applied in a multistage assessment process to emerging chemicals when limited knowledge exists to identify the likely environmental fate and to direct further research; ii) the indoor environment acts as a source of anthropogenic substances in consumer products to the outdoor environment; and iii) chemical removal pathways in the indoor environment are important for the fate of organic chemicals in densely populated areas. 2. 2. Exploring Processor and Memory Architectures for Multimedia

    Author : Ali Iranpour; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multimedia; Computer Architecture; Mobile; Embedded Systems; constraint programming; Memory; Processing; optimal memory mapping;

    Abstract : Multimedia has become one of the cornerstones of our 21st century society and, when combined with mobility, has enabled a tremendous evolution of our society. However, joining these two concepts introduces many technical challenges. READ MORE

  3. 3. Educational studies in heat and power technology : how students learn with multimedia tools and problem-based learning

    Author : Yacine Abbes; Torsten Fransson; Per Lundqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; qualitative study; multimedia; learning; learning theory; problem-based learning; Education; Pedagogik;

    Abstract : Higher education is undergoing continuous changes and new learning tools and methods are implemented. Researchers in education do not always agree upon the effectiveness of some of the methods introduced into engineering education. READ MORE

  4. 4. CPU Resource Management and Noise Filtering for PID Control

    Author : Vanessa Romero Segovia; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; resource management; embedded systems; real-time systems; multimedia; multicore; measurement noise; filtering; trade-offs; robustness; performance; SDU; noise gain; PID control;

    Abstract : The first part of the thesis deals with adaptive CPU resource management for multicore platforms. The work was done as a part of the resource manager component of the adaptive resource management framework implemented in the European ACTORS project. The framework dynamically allocates CPU resources for the applications. READ MORE

  5. 5. Language and literacy acquisition in children with developmental and learning disabilities

    Author : Tomas Tjus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Language; literacy; communication; learning; learning disabilities; developmental disabilities; multimedia; teacher strategy;

    Abstract : This thesis describes and explores some of the learning factors involved for language and literacy acquisition for different groups of children with learning disabilities. The theoretical framework is based upon the Rare Event Learning Model that tries to specify all the transactional factors involved (cognitive, emotional and interactional) when learning takes place.
