  1. 1. Identification of Arthritis Susceptibility Genes in Mice and Humans

    University dissertation from Department of Experimental Medical Science, Lund Univeristy

    Author : Emma Ahlqvist; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; QTL; Biomedical sciences; Rheumatoid arthritis; Collagen-induced arthritis; serologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease with a largely unknown aetiology. The risk of developing RA is partly dependent on genetic factors, which has motivated extensive efforts to identify the disease regulating genes as away to understand disease pathogenesis. READ MORE

    Abstract : Clubfoot is a congenital disorder, affecting about one of 1000 children. Treatment consists of initial correction of the deformity, followed by prolonged orthosis treatment to maintain the correction obtained. There are several different treatment options. Outcome studies, using reliable and valid instruments are rare. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the etiology and pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus with special reference to environmental factors

    University dissertation from Anders Bengtsson, Dept of Rheumatology, University Hospital, S-221 85 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Anders Bengtsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skeleton; Risk factors; Human parvovirus B19; Immune complex; Disease activity; Interferon-alpha; SLE; Retrovirus;

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease in which environmental factors interact with genetic factors in the development of the disease process and evolution of clinical manifestations. In this thesis both exogenous factors and host factors were investigated, as well as important immunopathological aspects including involvement of immune complex (IC), the complement system and interferon-alpha (IFN-α). 4. 4. Structure and Interactions of the Extracellular Matrix Protein PRELP

    University dissertation from Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Lund University

    Author : Eva Bengtsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skelett; extracellular matrix; PRELP; heparin; heparan sulfate; perlecan; collagen; cell-binding; Skeleton; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the structure and interactions of a novel extracellular matrix protein - PRELP (proline arginine-rich end leucine-rich repeat protein). The amino acid sequence of PRELP showed that it belonged to the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) protein family in connective tissues. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chronic musculoskeletal pain: a multifactorial process

    University dissertation from FoU-Centre; Spenshult; SE-313 92 Oskarström; Sweden

    Author : Stefan Bergman; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2001]

    Abstract : The aim was to study prevalence, assessment methods, and risk factors of chronic musculoskeletal pain, as well as effects on health status in a general population setting. A postal survey to a representative sample of 3928 subjects aged 20–74 years in 2 municipalities on the west coast of Sweden was followed by clinical examinations of selected subjects, and a three-year follow up survey to 2425 subjects who answered completely to the first.
