  1. 1. Nanopatterning by Swift Heavy Ions

    Author : Marek Skupinski; Klas Hjört; Jens Jensen; Christina Trautmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Materials science; swift heavy ions; lithography; nanopatterning; self-assembly; Materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Today, the dominating way of patterning nanosystems is by irradiation-based lithography (e-beam, DUV, EUV, and ions). Compared to the other irradiations, ion tracks created by swift heavy ions in matter give the highest contrast, and its inelastic scattering facilitate minute widening and high aspect ratios (up to several thousands). 2. 2. Fatty Acid Self-Assembly at the Air–Water Interface : Curvature, Patterning, and Biomimetics: A Study by Neutron Reflectometry and Atomic Force Microscopy

    Author : Erik Bergendal; Mark W. Rutland; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-assembly; branched fatty acids; Langmuir films; Langmuir–Blodgett; nanopatterning; AFM; neutron reflectometry; grenade fettsyror; Langmuir monoskikt; Langmuir–Blodgett; självassociering; nanostrukturerade material; AFM; neutronspridning; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : For more than a hundred years of interfacial science, long chain fatty acids have been the primary system for the study of floating monolayers at the air–water interface due to their amphiphilic nature and system simplicity: an insoluble hydrocarbon chain and a soluble carboxyl group at a flat air–water interface. Despite―or perhaps rather due to―the assumed simplicity of such systems and the maturity of the research field, the seemingly fundamentally rooted notion of a two-dimensional water surface has yet to be challenged. 3. 3. Direct Nanoprototyping of Functional Materials via Focused Electron Beam

    Author : Anastasia Riazanova; Lyubov M. Belova; Cornelis W. Hagen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EBID; nanoprototyping; nanopatterning; nanoscale; nanostructure; purification; Au; Co; SiO2; dimethyl gold acetylacetonate; dicobalt octacarbonyl; TEOS; Dual Beam;

    Abstract : During recent years the demand for nanoscale materials with tailor-made functional properties as bulk species, is continuously and progressively rising for such fields as e.g. micro- and nano-electronics, plasmonics, spintronics, bio-technology, bio-sensing and life sciences. 4. 4. Thiol-ene Nanostructuring

    Author : Reza Zandi Shafagh; Klas Tommy Haraldsson; Wouter van der Wijngaart; Niels Bent Larsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanostructuring; thiol-ene; OSTE; electron beam lithography EBL ; reaction injection molding RIM ; nanoimprint lithography NIL ; BioNEMS; QCM; digital bioassay; protein patterning; Lab-on-a-chip; polymer;

    Abstract : Improving the health and well-being of humankind does not only constitutepart of our moral codes, but is also enlisted as the number three goal ofthe 2030 agenda for sustainable development set by the UN. Fulfilling suchobjective in the regions of resource-poor settings or for age groups with morevulnerability to infectious agents demands immediate actions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Nanoscale YBa2Cu3O7-δ devices -Searching for a subdominant order parameter using a single electron transistor

    Author : David Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; grain boundary; Josephson junctions; YBCO; single electron transistors; high temperature superconductivity;

    Abstract : The microscopic origin of High critical Temperature Superconductivity (HTS) is still an open issue in condensed matter physics. It is believed that by exlporing the quasiparticle energy spectrum one can learn about the mechanism promoting the superconducting state. READ MORE
