1. Near-Field Study of Multiple Interacting Jets : Confluent Jets
Abstract : This thesis deals with the near-field of confluent jets, which can be of interest in many engineering applications such as design of a ventilation supply device. The physical effect of interaction between multiple closely spaced jets is studied using experimental and numerical methods. READ MORE

2. Oxidative Dissolution of Spent Fuel and Release of Nuclides from a Copper/Iron Canister : Model Developments and Applications
Abstract : Three models have been developed and applied in the performance assessment of a final repository. They are based on accepted theories and experimental results for known and possible mechanisms that may dominate in the oxidative dissolution of spent fuel and the release of nuclides from a canister. 3. Controlled Source Radiomagnetotelluric (CSRMT) Applications in Environmental and Resource Exploration
Abstract : An integrated use of radio magnetotelluric (RMT) and controlled source tensor magnetotelluric (CSTMT) measurements, the so-called CSRMT method, has been employed in environmental and resource exploration studies. A number of case histories, including a groundwater investigation in glacial deposits, a study of fracture zones for geotechnical purposes and a mining exploration study of a copper deposit, are presented in this thesis in order to illustrate the usefulness and capability of the CSRMT method. 4. On the Application of Surface Wave Surveys for Seismic Site Response Evaluation
Abstract : In sites where earthquakes occur, the use of surface wave methods represents a convenient and effective procedure for soil characterization. In particular, Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave (MASW) has become a popular tool in many seismic micro-zoning projects. READ MORE

5. Measurement and evaluation of near-field spray kinematics for nozzles with asymmetrical inlet geometries
Abstract : In diesel engines, fuel injection parameters have a commanding effect on mixing and combustion quality. This research aims to enhance the fundamental knowledge of fuel sprays and their primary break-up. In addition, this research provides statistical data to validate simulation models and improve the prediction accuracy in mixing and combustion. READ MORE
