  1. 1. Aramaic Loanwords in Neo-Assyrian 900–600 B.C

    Author : Zack Cherry; Olof Pedersén; Mats Eskhult; Mario Fales; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Neo-Assyrian; Aramaic loanwords; language contact; etymology; cognates; ghost word; Semitic languages; source word; Assyriology; Assyriologi;

    Abstract : This study aimed at identifying and analyzing Aramaic loanwords in Neo-Assyrian for the period 900–600 B.C. As two Semitic languages, Neo-Assyrian and Aramaic are sibling-descendants of a postulated common ancestor, Proto-Semitic. The study provides information about the contact between the two languages and about the people who spoke them. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimal Near-field Antenna Apertures in Lossy Media

    Author : Aidin Razavi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optimal near-field aperture; near-field focusing; near-field antennas; near-field power transfer; array signal processing.; maximum penetration;

    Abstract : Antennas are traditionally designed for far-field applications such as wireless communications, radar, etc., where the antenna systems interact with other systems and objects which are located in the far-field zone of the antennas. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mid- and near-infrared NICE-OHMS : techniques for ultra-sensitive detection of molecules in gas phase

    Author : Thomas Hausmaninger; Ove Axner; Kyle Crabtree; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spectrometry; NICE-OHMS; trace gas detection; acetylene; methane; isotopologues; near-infrared; mid-infrared; shot-noise; optical parametric oscillator; teknisk fysik med inriktningen mikrosystemteknik; engineering science with specialization in microsystems technology;

    Abstract : Noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry (NICE-OHMS) is a technique for ultra-sensitive detection of molecular absorption and dispersion. For highest performance, the technique combines cavity enhancement (CE) with frequency modulation (FM); while the former increases the effective interaction length between the light and the analyte by several orders of magnitudes, the latter removes the in-coupling of 1/f noise and makes the signals background free. 4. 4. Near-ambient pressure velocity map imaging

    Author : Tzu-En Chien; Dan Harding; Klas Engvall; Rainer Beck; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Catalyst; Surface reaction; Near-ambient pressure; CO; CO2; CO oxidation; Pd; Palladium; Instrument design; Velocity-map imaging; Katalysator; Ytreaktion; Näraomgivningstryck; CO; CO2; CO oxidation; Pd; Palladium; Instrumentdesign; Hastighetskartbildning; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Catalytic reactions on solid surfaces have been studied under Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions for decades. These studies provide crucial information for catalytic reactions, such as surface structures, adsorption sites, and reaction mechanisms. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Statistical Approach to Near Dry Machining

    Author : Marina Isaksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cooling; turning; carbide; lubrication.; aerospace; Near-dry-machining; ceramic; MQL;

    Abstract : To substantiate the implementation of near dry machining in such a demanding industry as the aerospace industry, it is essential to have a broad understanding about the phenomena behind near dry machining. The conditions for the aerospace industry is stated in such a way, that changes or method development of the process had to be very well founded before it could be executed. READ MORE
