2. Observation Methods and Imaging Techniques. Assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities
Abstract : Observation methods and imaging techniques - assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities The aim of this thesis was to develop, establish and validate observation methods for exposure assessments in epidemiological studies of repetitive work. A second aim was to increase the quality of input data for biomechanical shoulder models, by reliability and validity studies of Magnetic Reso-nance Imaging (MRI) and Ultrasound Scanning (US). 4. Occupational health risks in dentistry - musculoskeletal disorders and neuropathy in relation to exposure to physical workload, vibrations and mercury
Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to focus on the occupational health risks in dentistry with emphasis on musculoskeletal disorders in the neck and upper limbs and neuropathy in the hands, in relation to exposure to physical workload, vibration and mercury. An increased high frequency of long-lasting and wide-spread musculoskeletal symptoms in the neck and shoulder regions (58-75% during the past 12 months) was found in dentists and dental hygienists compared to different referent groups; furthermore, wrist/hand (46-59%) and hip (19-27%) disorders as well in female dentists and dental hygienists. 5. Effects of vibration on muscles in the neck and upper limbs : with focus on occupational terrain vehicle drivers
Abstract : Introduction: Occupational drivers of terrain vehicles are exposed to several risk factors associated with musculoskeletal symptoms in the lower back as well as in the neck and upper limbs. Vibration has been suggested to be a main risk factor. These drivers are exposed to both whole-body vibration (WBV) and hand-arm vibration (HAV). READ MORE
