2. Optimal strategies and information in foraging theory
Abstract : In this thesis, I present both theoretical and empirical work where we have studied how humans and animals use information in situations where they need to continually update their information on the density of a resource. We have found that the amount of information, and the way the information is presented, are important factors for how well decisions are adapted to current circumstances. READ MORE

3. Charged particle multiplicities in p̄p reactions 540 GeV C.M. energy
Abstract : Antiproton-proton reactions at a centre of mass energy of 540 GeV are studied. The results were obtained using the UA5 detector installed at the CERN SPS Collider. The pseudorapidity (-n) distribution for non single-diffractive events is presented and compared to ISR data. READ MORE

4. Gene regulatory evolution in flycatchers: statistical approaches for the analysis of allele-specific expression
Abstract : Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying evolutionary changes in gene expression is a major research topic in biology. While a powerful approach to study this is the analysis of allele-specific expression (ASE), most of previously published methods can only be applied to lab organisms. READ MORE

5. Issues of multicollinearity and conditional heteroscedasticy in time series econometrics
Abstract : This doctoral thesis consists of four chapters all related to the field of time series econometrics. The main contribution is firstly the development of robust methods when testing for Granger causality in the presence of generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (GARCH) and causality-in-variance (i.e. spillover) effects.
