  1. 1. On Methods for Real Time Sampling and Distributions in Sampling

    Author : Kadri Meister; Daniel Thorburn; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; Finite population sampling; inferential issues; real time sampling; sequential sampling methods; negative sampling correlations; model-design-based inference; multivariate Bernoulli and multinomial designs; Matematisk statistik; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis is composed of six papers, all dealing with the issue of sampling from a finite population. We consider two different topics: real time sampling and distributions in sampling. The main focus is on Papers A–C, where a somewhat special sampling situation referred to as real time sampling is studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Atherosclerosis and Insulin Resistance AIR A cross-sectional study of 58-year old men

    Author : Lena Bokemark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Insulin resistance; intima-media thickness; LDL particle size; atherosclerosis.;

    Abstract : The main aim of the study was to test the hypothesis that insulin resistance is associated with atherosclerotic disease in the carotid and femoral arteries as measured using the ultrasound technique in clinically healthy 58-year old men with varying degrees of obesity and insulin resistance. The subjects were recruited from the general population and were free from clinical cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and treatment with antihypertensive, lipid-lowering and anti-diabetic drugs (n=818). 3. 3. Genetic and environmental aspects of symptomatic gallstone disease

    Author : Despina S Katsika; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Gallstone; Swedish Twin Registry; monozygotic; dizygotic; structural equation modeling; body mass index; alcohol; tobacco; ABCG8 D19 H; lith genes; association study;

    Abstract : Gallstone disease (GD) represents a major healthcare problem. Gallstones are likely to result from a complex interaction of the environment and the effects of multiple undetermined genes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Biogeochemical data from SGU : properties and applications

    Author : Kaj Lax; Reijo Salminen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : Geochemical mapping is a technique that has been used all over the world for a multitude of purposes. The biogeochemical mapping programme conducted by the Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) is mainly based on stream plant chemistry, which, opposed to mapping based on inorganic stream sediments or soils, is a method that is very uncommon.
