  1. 1. Molecular factors influencing nerve growth : studies on the developing rodent trigeminal ganglion and tooth pulp

    Author : Christina Lillesaar; Ted Ebendal; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The adult tooth pulp has a rich protective sensory innervation from the trigeminal ganglion (TG). The developmental establishment of this exclusively nociceptive innervation is not fully understood today. READ MORE

  2. 2. Factors influencing nerve growth in situ and in vitro

    Author : Helena Jerregård; Mårten Risling; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Bakgranden till denna doktorsavhaodling är den problematik som uppstår efter en perifer nervskada, roreträdesvis i relation till handen eftersom den har så stor betydelse i vårt dagliga liv. En haod utan känsel fungerar dåligt och än sänne fungerar en handprotes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nerve gap repair by the use of artificial conduits and cultured cells

    Author : Daniel Kalbermatten; Mikael Wiberg; Ulrich Mennen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipose stem cells; cell matrix; fibrin; nerve conduit; nerve gap; Surgery; Kirurgi; kirurgi; Surgery;

    Abstract : Peripheral nerve injuries are often associated with loss of nerve tissue and require autologous nerve grafts to provide a physical substrate for axonal growth. This thesis investigates the use of fibrin as both a tubular conduit to guide nerve regeneration and also as a matrix material to suspend various regenerative cell types within/on poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) nerve conduits. 4. 4. Nerve growth factor : its contribution to neuroimmunomodulation

    Author : Luisa Bracci-Laudiero; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : NGF; CGRP; SP; lupus; NZB W; apoptosis; B-cells;

    Abstract : Nerve growth factor (NGF) is the best characterised member of the neurotrophin family, a protein group with common structures and functions. Similar to other proteins of neuronal origin NGF, in addition to its well described action on neurons, is involved in the regulation of the immune system. READ MORE

  5. 5. Pre-, peri- and postnatal influences on ophthalmologic outcome - a study on children born after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and children born preterm

    Author : Margareta Hök Wikstrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : visual function; intracytoplasmic sperm injection; preterm birth; growth; insulin-like growth factor 1; postnatal development; ocular fundus morphology;

    Abstract : The aims of the present study were to investigate the effects of prenatal factors in children born after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and peri- and postnatal factors in children born preterm on visual function and ocular fundus morphology at school age. In the children born preterm the ophthalmologic outcomes, including optic nerve morphology were analysed in relation to gestational age (GA), birth weight (BW) standard deviation score (SDS), serum levels of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I), weight at week 32 (SDS), and weight, length and head circumference (SDS) at school age.
