  1. 1. Optimization of Just-in-Time Sequencing Problems and Supply Chain Logistics

    Author : Gyan Thapa; Sergei Silvestrov; Anatoliy Malyarenko; George Fodor; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Just-in-time; JIT sequencing; apportionment; product rate variation; output rate variation; algorithms; heuristics; supply chain; logistics; queueing; non-linear integer programming; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a comprehensive and comparative progress in sequencing approaches of mixed-model just-in-time (JIT) sequencing problem together with discrete apportioment problem (DAP). The goal of JIT sequencing problem (JITSP) is to keep the rate of usage of parts as constant as possible along the assembly lines, and the goal of DAP is to divide a given integer number of delegates proportionally among the states or the parties according to their population or votes. 2. 2. Short Term Scheduling of Hydrothermal Power Systems With Integer Hydro Constraints

    Author : Nilsson Olof; Lennart Söder; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydro power; Optimization; Integer Constraints; Lagrange relaxation; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The thesis presents models for short term planning (24 hours) of a hyro dominated hydrothermal power system. The purpose of the models is to minimizae the system operation costs to provide a forecasted load and keep enough spinning reserve... READ MORE

  3. 3. MIND : Optimization method for industrial energy systems

    Author : Katarina Nilsson; Mats Söderström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPTIMIZATION; LIFE CYCLE COST; INDUSTRIAL; NONLINEAR; ENERGY;

    Abstract : The MIND optimization method is a tool for life cycle cost minimization of a flexible range of industrial energy systems. It can be used in analyses of energy systems in response to changes within the system, changes of the boundary conditions and synthesis of energy systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Planning Models for Single Wire Earth Return Power Distribution Networks

    Author : Geofrey Bakkabulindi; Lennart Söder; Mikael Amelin; Peiyuan Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Rural electrification; power distribution planning; Single Wire Earth Return; distribution power flow; power system modeling; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : The high cost of grid extension to rural areas, often characterized by scattered communities with low load densities, requires the use of low cost electrification technologies to ensure economic viability. In Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) power distribution networks, the earth itself forms the current return path of the single phase system leading to significant cost savings on conductors, poles and poletop hardware compared to conventional systems.
