  1. 1. Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry for Determination of Noncovalent Interactions in Drug Discovery

    Author : Kurt Benkestock; Johan Roeraade; Renato Zenobi; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; electrospray ionization; drug discovery; noncovalent interaction; complexes; human serum albumin HSA ; fatty acid binding protein FABP ; ribonuclease; ligand screening; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Noncovalent interactions are involved in many biological processes in which biomolecules bind specifically and reversibly to a partner. Often, proteins do not have a biological activity without the presence of a partner, a ligand. READ MORE

  2. 2. Analysis of noncovalent and covalent protein-ligand complexes by electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry

    Author : Gustav Sundqvist; Harry Brumer; Per Andrén; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; noncovalent complex; droplet fission; nano-electrospray ionisation; mass spectrometry; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the application of electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) to the analysis of intact proteins is demonstrated. In papers I and II, the use of ESI-MS for the analysis of noncovalent protein-ligand complexes were discussed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Organic functionalization of graphene for applications in energy storage devices and optoelectronics

    Author : Cheng Peng; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphene; aqueous energy storage; optoelectronics; organic functionalization; 2D materials;

    Abstract : The emergence of one-atom layer thick materials, exemplified by graphene following its first exfoliation by Geim and Novoselov, has sparked significant research interest. Owing to their unique electronic structure, 2D materials are regarded as promising candidates for diverse applications, including field-effect transistors (FETs), solar energy harvesting, biological systems, water purification, and energy storage devices. 4. 4. Artificial Photosynthesis: Molecular Catalysts for Water Oxidation

    Author : Lei Wang; Licheng Sun; Hiroshi Imahori; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial photosynthesis; water oxidation; ruthenium complexes; nickel complexes; cerium; photo-catalysts; photosensitizer; electrochemistry; immobilization.; Kemi; Chemistry; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Artificial photosynthesis provides a promising solution to the future sustainable energy system. Water is the only suitably sufficient protons and electrons supplier by the reaction of water oxidation. However, this reaction is both kinetically and thermodynamically demanding, leading to a sluggish kinetics unless the introduction of a catalyst. READ MORE

  5. 5. Lipoprotein lipase-unstable on purpose?

    Author : Liyan Zhang; Gunilla Olivecrona; Cecilia Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochemistry; Lipoprotein lipase; Apolipoprotein CII; dimerization; monomerization; Molecular chaperones; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is a central enzyme in lipid metabolism. It is a non-covalent, homodimeric and N-glycosylated protein, which is regulated in a tissue-specific manner and is dependent on an activator protein, apolipoprotein CII. Dissociation of active LPL dimers to monomers leads to loss of activity. READ MORE
