  1. 1. Essays on spatial point processes and bioinformatics

    Author : Jessica Fahlén; Patrik Rydén; Xavier de Luna; Yudi Pawitan; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coverage process; vacancy; microarray; pre-processing; sensitivity; bias; dye-normalization; FFPE; storage time effects; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of two separate parts. The first part consists of one paper and considers problems concerning spatial point processes and the second part includes three papers in the field of bioinformatics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Care in revolt : Labor conflict, gender, neoliberalism

    Author : Magnus Granberg; Katarina Giritli-Nygren; Siv Fahlgren; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : appropriation; dialectics; feminism; gender; ideal worker; labor conflict; Marxism; neoliberalism; normalization; NPM; real abstraction; real subsumption;

    Abstract : The present thesis is an exploration of normalization processes and the problem of appropriation in labor conflict. More specifically, it analyses the way contemporary labor conflicts in nursing relate to, and thereby help to illuminate, changes in modes of gender normalization under neoliberalism, and how nurse labor conflict thereby sheds light on wider patterns of labor strife. 3. 3. A clinical positron emission tomography facility : 2-¹⁸FDG studies : development and results

    Author : Tomas G Ohlsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; head and neck cancer; monitoring therapy effect; quantification; normalization; 511 keV SPECT; rotating PET scanner; 2-[18-F]FDG; isotope production; 18-F; PET; positron emission tomography; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Ohlsson;

    Abstract : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a tracer technique used for quantitative in vivo studies of physiological and biochemical processes. Because of the use of positron-emitting radionuclides such as 11-C, 13-N, 15-O and 18-F, which are isotopes of the biologically ubiquitous elements, it is possible to label radiopharmaceuticals which trace biochemical processes precisely. 4. 4. Transcriptomics and Proteomics Applied to Developmental Toxicology

    Author : Kim Kultima; Lennart Dencker; Timothy Gant; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Toxicology; 2D-DIGE; Valproic acid; PBDE-99; Flame retardant; Neural tube defects; Microarray; In vivo; In vitro; Biomarker; Brain growth spurt; Normalization; Mouse embryo; Toxicogenomics; Toxikologi;

    Abstract : Developmental toxicology is an important part of preclinical drug toxicology as well as environmental toxicology. Assessing reproductive and developmental toxicity is especially expensive and time demanding, since at least two generations of animals are needed in the tests. READ MORE

  5. 5. Normalizing the Natural : A study of menstrual product destigmatization

    Author : Louise Klintner; Strategi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; stigma; avstigmatisering; mensprodukter; produktstigma; Stigma; Destigmatization; Normalization; Product stigma; Product Destigmatization; Menstrual products; Menstrual Hygiene Products: classification; Female Hygiene Products;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I develop our understanding of the destigmatization process to include product destigmatization. Previous research on destigmatization has primarily focused on that of individuals, groups, organizations, and industries. READ MORE
