1. Structure, Function and Regulation of Fps1p. A Eukaryotic Solute Efflux Channel
Abstract : Integral membrane proteins belonging to the Major Intrinsic Protein (MIP) family can be found in all kingdoms of life. MIPs are transporters of water, small neutral solutes and possibly ions, and hence are important for osmoregulation at different levels. READ MORE

2. Diagnostic methods for bacterial etiology in adult community-acquired pneumonia
Abstract : The etiologic agent is often unidentified in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Development of new diagnostic methods has been encouraged. We aimed to develop a multiplex PCR (mPCR) assay for common bacterial pathogens and evaluate the diagnostic usefulness of this assay and of respiratory culture in CAP. READ MORE

3. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain
Abstract : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 4. Viral infections in immunocompromised patients
Abstract : The number of patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is steadily increasing, and the outcome of this intervention is largely dependent on how well complications in the form of severe infections can be adequately diagnosed and controlled. Adenoviruses (AdV) have emerged as important causes of morbidity and mortality in these patients. READ MORE

5. Fusion Plasma Observations at JET with the TOFOR Neutron Spectrometer : Instrumental Challenges and Physics Results
Abstract : The neutron spectrometer TOFOR was installed at JET in 2005 for high-rate observation of neutrons from reactions between two deuterium (D) ions. Neutron spectrometry as a fusion plasma diagnostic technique is invoked to obtain information about the velocity states of fusion fuel ions. READ MORE
