  1. 1. Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Techniques in Diabetes

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lina Carlbom; Uppsala universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic resonance spectroscopy; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; PET MR; Pancreas transplantation; Perfusion; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : In order to further advance the field of diabetes research there is a great need for establishing validated non-invasive quantitative techniques to study the pancreas and other tissues of importance for blood glucose regulation. The general aim of this thesis was to explore magnetic resonance techniques and positron emission tomography as such tools. READ MORE

  2. 2. Heterogeneous Materials - Diffusion, Laplace Spectrum, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Matias Nordin; Chalmers tekniska högskola.; Chalmers University of Technology.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laplace operator; eigenvalues; eigenfunctions; propagator; diffusion; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance;

    Abstract : In this thesis diffusion in heterogeneous materials is studied using spectral analysis of the Laplace operator. Relations to the effective diffusion constant and the relaxation rate of the time-dependent diffusion coefficient for porous systems are derived from the Laplace operator’s spectrum. READ MORE

  3. 3. Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in Brain Tumors - Clinical Applications

    University dissertation from Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Lund University

    Author : Isabella Björkman-Burtscher; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; Localization; Abscess; Brain; Tumor; Spectroscopy; Magnetic Resonance; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Hjärntumörer är en relativt vanlig sjukdom som förekommer hos både barn och vuxna. Utredning, prognosticering och uppföljning av patienter som har drabbats av sjukdomen sker genom klinisk undersökning och med hjälp av bildgivande tekniker som datortomografi (DT) och magnetisk resonans (MR) tomografi, i dagligt tal magnetkamera. 4. 4. Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease

    University dissertation from Department of Radiology, Lund University

    Author : Peter Hochbergs; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; Histology; Metaphysis; Synovitis; Necrosis; Osteotomy; Arthrography; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease; Pediatrics; Hip; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology;

    Abstract : The aims of this study were: to compare the cartilaginous outline of the femoral head obtained on arthrograms with those on MR images and to correlate it to the bony head outlines on conventional radiograps; to study early, postoperative cartilaginous and bony remodeling of the femoral head, after proximal femoral varus derotation extension osteotomy, with MR imaging and conventional radiography; to describe signal abnormalities on MR images in the femoral epiphysis, their location, extent and restitution over time; to evaluate the degree and persistence of synovitis in the hip joint by MR imaging; to analyze the metaphyseal histology and to correlate it to the signal intensity on the MR images in the corresponding biopsy region. Results and conclusions: MR imaging and arthrography define the shape of the femoral head cartilage equally well. READ MORE

  5. 5. Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging of the brain Tractography analysis with application in healthy individuals and patients

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Johanna Mårtensson; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Diffusion Tensor Imaging; Tractography; white matter tracts; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : In study 1, thirty-eight healthy controls were used for optimization of the method. Fifteen patients with progressive supranuclear palsy and an equal number of age-matched healthy controls underwent diffusion tensor MRI and were then investigated and compared groupwise. READ MORE
