  1. 21. Experimental Nuclear Structure Studies in the Vicinityof the N = Z Nucleus 100Sn and in the ExtremelyNeutron Deficient 162Ta Nucleus

    Author : Farnaz Ghazi Moradi; Bo Cederwall; Costel Marian Petrache; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear structure; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This work covers spectroscopic studies of nuclei from different regions of the Segré chart whose properties illustrate the delicate balance between the forces in the atomic nucleus. Studies of nuclei far from stability offer new insights into the complex nucleon many-body problem. READ MORE

  2. 22. Tilted Foils Nuclear Spin Polarization and Measurement with Coulomb Excitation

    Author : Hans Törnqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tilted; Foils; Polarization; Excitation; Coulomb; Nuclear; Spin;

    Abstract : Developing new experimental tools is essential to expand the possibilites of probing the structure of atomic nuclei. The better the currently known properties of nuclei can be manipulated, the more information can be extracted from data collected in nuclear reaction experiments. READ MORE

  3. 23. The short, excited life of tellurium : Lifetime analysis of excited states in the Te midshell region

    Author : Ebba Ahlgren Cederlöf; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Johan Nyberg; Matthias Weiszflog; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma spectroscopy; lifetime measurement; lifetime; shell model; RDDS; DDCM; nuclear physics; nuclear structure; gamma spektroskopi; livstidsmätningar; livstid; skalmodellen; RDDS; DDCM; kärnfysik; kärnstruktur; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis, lifetimes of low lying excited states in the midshell region of tellurium isotopes are discussed. The nuclear lifetimes are interesting properties to study, since they are inversely proportional to the transition probabilities, which contain information on the underlying structure of the nucleus. 4. 24. In-beam Study of Extremely Neutron deficient Nuclei Using the Recoil-Decay Tagging Technique

    Author : Baharak Hadinia; Bo Cederwall; Patrik Regan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear structure; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The low-lying structures of the extremely neutron-deficient nuclei 106Te, 107Te, 110Xe, 170Ir and 172Au have been investigated experimentally. Prompt gamma rays emitted in fusion-evaporation reactions were detected by the Jurogam HPGe array. READ MORE

  5. 25. Spectroscopic Studies of Isomers Produced in Relativistic Projectile Fragmentation and In-Flight Fission

    Author : Milena Mineva; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Projectile fragmentation; nuclear structure; isomeric states; lifetimes; production rates; Kärnfysik; isomeric ratios; Nuclear physics; Fysicumarkivet A:000; in-flight fission;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on a number of experiments performed at the FRagment Separator (FRS) at the Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung mbH (GSI) in Darmstadt, Germany, in which heavy-ion reactions at relativistic energies have been used to produce nuclei far from stability. In April 1999 projectile fragmentation of 208Pb at 1 GeV/nucleon was used to study so called K-isomers in the neutron-rich isotopes of Lu (Z=71) to Hg (Z=80). READ MORE
