  2. 2. Offshore renewable energy systems : Quantification of extreme loads using computational methods

    Author : Eirini Katsidoniotaki; Malin Göteman; Alison Raby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; offshore systems; wave energy; CFD; extreme events; machine learning; Bayesian experimental design; active learning; surrogate modeling;

    Abstract : This Ph.D. thesis investigates the dynamic response of offshore energy systems in extreme waves. The use of offshore energy technologies, such as wave energy systems and offshore wind turbines, is crucial for transitioning to clean energy and mitigating the effects of climate change. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wave Energy Converters : An experimental approach to onshore testing, deployments and offshore monitoring

    Author : Liselotte Ulvgård; Mats Leijon; Jonny Hylander; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : The expansion of offshore power transmission and generation in the North Seas of Europe is accelerating rapidly. This is due to several drivers, including the decarbonization and reform of the European power system, and innovations in offshore wind and high-voltage direct current transmission. READ MORE

  5. 5. Influence of multiple welding cycles on microstructure and corrosion resistance of a super duplex stainless steel

    Author : Vahid Hosseini; Leif Karlsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Super duplex stainless steel; autogenous TIG welding; multiple welding thermal cycles; sensitization; nitrogen loss; sigma phase; ferrite content; production technology; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) has found a wide use in demanding applications such as offshore, chemical and petrochemical industries thanks to its excellent combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Welding of SDSS, however, is associated with the risk of precipitation of secondary phases and formation of excessive amounts of ferrite in the weld metal and heat affected zone. READ MORE
