  1. 1. On Generic Road Vehicle Motion Modelling and Control

    Author : Johan Andreasson; Annika Stensson Trigell; Matt Best; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : With the increased amount of on-board electric power driven by the ongoing hybridization, new ways to realize vehicles are likely to occur. This thesis outlines a future direction of vehicle motion control based on the assumptions that: 1) future vehicle development will face an increased amount of available actuators for vehicle propulsion and control that will open up for an increased variety of possible configurations, 2) the onboard computational power will continue to increase and allow higher demands on active safety and drivability that will require a tighter interaction between sensors and actuators, 3) the trend towards more individualized vehicles on common platforms with shorter time-to-market require design approaches that allow engineering knowledge to be transferred conveniently from one generation to the next. 2. 2. Stochastic finite element simulations of real life frontal crashes : With emphasis on chest injury mechanisms in near-side oblique loading conditions

    Author : Johan Iraeus; Mats Lindquist; Ulf Björnstig; Mats G Larsson; Joel Stitzel; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EDR; Real life crashes; Oblique; Finite element; Simulation; HBM; Injury mechanism; Pulse shape; Stochastic; Rib fracture; THUMS; Generic; Statistics; biomechanics; biomekanik; skadeförebyggande; injury prevention;

    Abstract : Introduction. Road traffic injuries are the eighth leading cause of death globally and the leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29. Of individuals killed or injured in road traffic injuries, a large group comprises occupants sustaining a thorax injury in frontal crashes. The elderly are particularly at risk, as they are more fragile. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sustainable Personal Road Transport : The Role of Electric Vehicles

    Author : Sven Borén; Göran Broman; Henrik Ny; Louise Trygg; Jamil Khan; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strategic Sustainable Development; Transport Planning; Electric Vehicles; Testing; LCA;

    Abstract : Electric vehicles can play an important role in a future sustainable road transport system and many Swedish politicians would like to see them implemented faster. This is likely desirable to reach the target of a fossil independent vehicle fleet in Sweden by 2030 and a greenhouse gas neutral Swedish society no later than 2050. READ MORE

  4. 4. Monitoring transport and fate of de-icing salt in the roadside environment : Modelling and field measurements

    Author : Annika Lundmark; Per-Erik Jansson; Bo Olofsson; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Helen K. French; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chloride; De-icing salt; Groundwater; Modelling; Monitoring; Road; Roadside; Soil water; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Abstract : Roads and traffic are a major non-point source of pollutants and may have severe impacts on surface water, groundwater, soil and vegetation. In cold climates, de-icing salt is one such pollutant that may cause increased chloride concentrations and induce other effects on the environment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Surface Wave Testing of Pavements

    Author : Nils Rydén; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Hydrogeology; inversion; guided waves; road; pavement; Surface waves; non-destructive testing;

    Abstract : A novel approach for surface wave testing of pavements is presented. It is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique that can be used to obtain the thickness and stiffness properties of the different layers in a pavement. READ MORE
