1. Optical diagnostics of Soot in optically dense sprays
Abstract : Soot diagnostics in engines can be carried out with optical methods that have the potentialfor high temporal and spatial resolution. Some of these methods were appliedto study diesel spray combustion in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature(HP/HT) spray rig. READ MORE

2. Temporally gated imaging for investigation of atomizing sprays
Abstract : Fuel sprays play an important role in the combustion process of modern compression ignition engines, but their dynamics are not well understood. This thesis focuses on time-gated imaging techniques as a means to study the optically dense spray formation region of these atomizing sprays. READ MORE

3. Droplet size, concentration, and temperature mapping in sprays using SLIPI-based techniques
Abstract : Structured laser illumination planar imaging (SLIPI) is a technique capable of suppressing multiple light scattering effects in optically dense sprays, resulting in spray images without blurs and with enhanced contrast. The novelty of the work presented in this thesis concerns the applications of a variety of SLIPI-based techniques for the measurement of droplet size, droplet concentration, and liquid temperature in atomizing sprays. 4. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research
Abstract : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 5. Structured Laser Illumination Planar Imaging SLIPI Applications for Spray Diagnostics
Abstract : Laser sheet imaging, also known as planar laser imaging, is one of the most versatile optical imaging techniques known and is frequently applied in several different domains. It furthermore constitutes the basis for a variety of other 2D methods, in turn allowing visualization of e.g. velocity, particle size, species concentration and temperature. READ MORE
