  1. 1. Organics in hydrothermal fluids from ultramafic-hosted vents of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

    Author : cecile konn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : hydrothermal; organics; serpentinization; origin of life;

    Abstract : The process of serpentinization at slow spreading ridges is due to the circulation of seawater through outcropping mantle rocks. The peridotites of the mantle are altered via fluid-rock interaction generating, in the presence of Fe bearing minerals, high CH4- and H2-concentrations in the water column. READ MORE

  2. 2. Neutron-Induced Scintillation in Organics

    Author : Nicholai Mauritzson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; liquid organic scintillator; oil; time-of-flight; neutron tagging; light yield; simulation; calibration; NE 213A; EJ 305; EJ 331; EJ 321P; Source Testing Facility; pedagogy; Fysicumarkivet A:2023:Mauritzson;

    Abstract : Neutrons are widely used as probes of matter to study materials in a broad range of fields from physics, chemistry and medicine to material sciences. Any application utilizing neutrons needs to employ a well-understood and optimized neutron-detector system. READ MORE

  3. 3. The complexation of some radionuclides with natural organics : Implications for radioactive waste disposal

    Author : Maria Nordén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Natural organics like humic substances are important for the speciation, mobility and bioavailability of metals in the environment. This ability necessitates the investigation of what impact humic substances may have on radionuclides that accidentally can escape from radioactive waste repositories. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthesis of complex organics via molecular growth mechanisms : Combined experimental and theoretical studies on ion-neutral reactions of C2H2N+ with ubiquitous hydrocarbons in Titan's ionosphere

    Author : Pantea Fathi; Wolf Geppert; Paul Scheier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrochemistry; Complex molecules; Ion-neutral reactions; Mass spectrometry; Planetary and satellite atmospheres; Titan; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : To provide insights on the molecular growth mechanisms leading to large carbon and nitrogen-bearing species in Titan’s ionosphere, laboratory measurements of ion-neutral reactions were conducted and the results are presented in the following doctoral dissertation. The product ions of the C2H2N+ reactions with saturated and unsaturated neutral hydrocarbons have been investigated using Guided Ion Beam Mass Spectrometer (GIB-MS). READ MORE

  5. 5. Primary and secondary organics in biogenic atmospheric aerosol : The chiral study of 2-methyltetrols from method development to application

    Author : Nélida Jocelyn Donají Karlsson; Kevin Noone; Sandro Fuzzi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric organic aerosols; 2-methyltetrols; isoprene; chiral GC-MS; enantiomeric composition; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Distinguishing between the primary and secondary origin of the organic components in atmospheric aerosols is one of the key parameters in assessing the relevance and role of different chemical species in the overall chemistry of the atmosphere. Currently available methods used in field measurements are not able to fully discriminate between the primary or secondary origin of compounds detected in atmospheric aerosols. READ MORE
