  1. 1. Teaching, Learning, and Student Output : A Study of French in the Classroom

    Author : Anna Flyman Mattsson; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; language teaching learning; classroom; communication; output; focus on form; foreign languages teaching; Applied linguistics; sociolinguistics; Tillämpad lingvistik; undervisning i främmande språk; sociolingvistik;

    Abstract : Student speech production is an essential part of language learning in the foreign-language classroom. The students usually have few opportunities to use the language outside the classroom, which underscores the importance of making good use of the time spent in the classroom. READ MORE

  2. 2. Absorbed Dose Determination and Characteristics of Degraded Electron Beams: Application to Intraoperative Radiation Therapy

    Author : Peter Björk; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; absorbed dose distribution; output factor; stopping-power ratio; beam characteristics; Monte Carlo calculation; electron beam dosimetry; applicator system; radiation therapy; linear accelerator; intraoperative radiotherapy;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to quantify limitations of and uncertainties in commonly used dosimetric techniques for relative absorbed dose determination in degraded electron beams, such as those encountered in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and small-electron-field radiotherapy. Three different detector types were investigated with regard to measurements of output factors and relative absorbed dose distributions: (1) a parallel-plate ionization chamber, (2) a p-type silicon diode detector and (3) a diamond detector. 3. 3. Energy and intensity modulated radiation therapy with electrons

    Author : Lennart Olofsson; Mikael Karlsson; Magnus Karlsson; Björn Zackrisson; Erik Traneus; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation sciences; Radiation therapy; Conformal therapy; IMRT; Electrons; Electron treatment head; Electron MLC; Bremsstrahlung reduction; Integral dose; Penumbra; Output factor; Strålningsvetenskap; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Abstract : In recent years intensity modulated radiation therapy with photons (xIMRT) has gained attention due to its ability to reduce the dose in the tissues close to the tumour volume. However, this technique also results in a large low dose volume. READ MORE
