  1. 1. Measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson cross sections in the WW* decay mode with the ATLAS experiment

    Author : P. Edvin Sidebo; Jonas Strandberg; Markus Klute; KTH; []

    Abstract : This thesis summarises measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson production cross sections based on proton–proton collision data at √s = 13 TeV produced by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. By analysing data collected during 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 fb−1, the Higgs boson gluon–gluon fusion and vector boson fusion production cross sections are measured in the WW* decay mode. 3. 3. Charged particle distributions and robustness of the neural network pixel clustering in ATLAS

    Author : Edvin Sidebo; Jonas Strandberg; Bengt Lund-Jensen; David Silvermyr; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; p p: scattering; ATLAS; LHC; charged particle: multiplicity; semiconductor detector: pixel; neural network: performance; track data analysis: cluster; charged particle: cluster; splitting; CERN LHC Coll; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis contains a study of the robustness of the artificial neural network used in the ATLAS track reconstruction algorithm as a tool to recover tracks in dense environments. Different variations, motivated by potential discrepancies between data and simulation, are performed to the neural network’s input while monitoring the corresponding change in the output. READ MORE

  4. 4. Profiling Plasma Metabolite Alterations in Diet-Induced Obesity and Diabetes Using NMR Metabolomics

    Author : João Vieira; Diabetes och hjärnans funktion; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolite profiling; diet-induced obesity; type 2 diabetes mellitus; 1H-NMR spectroscopy; metabolism alterations; post-stroke recovery;

    Abstract : Diets rich in saturated fat and sedentary lifestyles markedly contribute to obesity and metabolic syndrome-related diseases, including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). Metabolite profiling plays a pivotal role in understanding these metabolic diseases. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phosphorus chemistry in managed forest soils : effects of weathering and wood ash fertilisation

    Author : Marius Tuyishime; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Weathering and Podzolisation are key mechanisms that transform primary mineral apatite into a phosphorus (P) pool with low solubility. In addition, intensive forest harvesting removes nutrients from the soil, reducing P availability. READ MORE
