    Abstract : The presence of TP53 mutations has been associated with inferior outcome in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In DLBCL, the impact of the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and MDM2 SNP309 has not been clearly elucidated, whereas MDM2 SNP309 was suggested as a poor-prognostic marker in CLL. READ MORE

  2. 2. DNA methylation and gene expression patterns in adrenal medullary tumors

    Author : Nimrod G B Kiss; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Pheochromocytomas and abdominal paragangliomas are neuroendocrine tumors of the autonomous nervous system, arising in adrenal medulla and sympathetic ganglia throughout the abdomen. These tumors originate from catecholamine-producing chromaffin cells. Neuroblastomas are common childhood tumors in the adrenal medulla and abdominal ganglia. READ MORE

  3. 3. p16INK4A and p15INK4B in senescence, immortalization and cancer : gene transfer by adenovirus vectors

    Author : Jonas Fuxe; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The astrocytic gliomas are the most common form of brain tumors in humans. The malignant progression from low grade (astrocytoma, grade II) to high-grade (glioblastoma multiforme, grade, IV) astrocytomas is well documented and is accompanied by an increasing number of genetic aberrations. 4. 4. Further delineation of molecular alterations in adreno-medullary tumors

    Author : Janos Geli; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Pheochromocytoma; abdominal paraganglioma; neuroblastoma; tumor suppressor gene; DNA methylation; gene expression; RIZ1; NORE1A; RASSF1A; CDKN2A;

    Abstract : Pheochromocytomas, abdominal paragangliomas and neuroblastomas are tumors of the sympathetic nervous system. Anatomically pheochromocytomas and abdominal paragangliomas arise from sympathoadrenal paraganglia, within and outside the adrenal medulla, respectively. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ageing and inflammation with focus on end-stage renal diseases : genetic and epigenetic factors

    Author : Karin Luttropp; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The presence of ageing-associated disorders at a relatively young age in patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) has led to the hypothesis that CKD is characterized by accelerated ageing, resulting in a marked discrepancy between chronological and biological age. Factors that accelerate biological ageing, such as inflammation, oxidative stress, and toxins, impact the processes of cellular senescence and/or apoptosis, thereby shortening the life span of cells, and consequently, of the organism as a whole.
