  1. 1. Strength Properties of Paper produced from Softwood Kraft Pulp : Pulp Mixture, Reinforcement and Sheet Stratification

    Author : Hanna Karlsson; Luciano Beghello; Lars Nilsson; Lennart Stolpe; Öyvind Gregersen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; paper strength; tensile strength; tearing resistance; folding endurance; fracture toughness; handsheet former; stratify; multilayer; multiply; reinforcement; refining; beating; abaca; glass fibre; polyester; lyocell; softwood; bond strength; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : For paper producers, an understanding of the development of strength properties in the paper is of uttermost importance. Strong papers are important operators both in the traditional paper industry as well as in new fields of application, such as fibre-based packaging, furniture and light-weight building material. 2. 2. Mechanical Pulp-Based Nanocellulose : Processing and applications relating to paper and paperboard, composite films, and foams

    Author : Sinke Henshaw Osong; Per Engstrand; Sven Norgren; Mark Martinez; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical pulp; thermo-mechanical pulp; chemi-thermomechanical pulp; fractionation; fines; homogenisation; nanocellulose; nano-ligno-cellulose; microfibrillated cellulose; nanofibrillated cellulose; paper; strength properties; crill; TEMPO; nanographite NG ; composite films;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with processing of nanocellulose originating from pulps, with focus on mechanical pulp fibres and fines fractions. The nanocellulose materials produced within this research project were tested for different purposes ranging from strength additives in paper and paperboard products, via composite films to foam materials. 3. 3. Laboratory method for the study of moisture-induced waviness in paper

    Author : Cecilia Land; Göran Ström; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; method; moisture; paper; paper web; wavelength; waviness; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Paper that is subjected to moisture undergoes dimensional changes. It expands during moistening and shrinks during drying. When the paper is under tension between rollers, the effects are complex since shrinkage and expansion are restricted in the width direction. Waves can then appear on the paper web. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modelling and simulation of paper structure development

    Author : Stefan B Lindström; Tetsu Uesaka; Myat Htun; Cyrus Aidun; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forming; Fibre; Paper; Fibre suspension; Paper structure; Simulation; Rheology; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract :      A numerical tool has been developed for particle-level simulations of fibre suspension flows, particularly forming of the fibre network structure of paper sheets in the paper machine. The model considers inert fibres of various equilibrium shapes, and finite stiffness, interacting with each other through normal, frictional, and lubrication forces, and with the surrounding fluid medium through hydrodynamic forces.
