1. Parity Effects in Single Charge Tunneling
Abstract : The subject of this thesis is single charge tunneling effects, especially parity effects, as they are manifested in quantum mechanical tunneling through a metallic island small enough to cause single electrons to block tunneling of other electrons due to Coulomb interaction. When the island is superconducting the ground state energy depends on the parity of the number of electrons on the island: outside of the condensate there will always be at least one electron contributing to the energy for an odd number of electrons and this will have observable consequences. 3. Charge Transport in Semiconductor Nanowire Quantum Devices: From Single Quantum Dots to Topological Superconductors
Abstract : This thesis focuses on charge transport in semiconductor InSb nanowire quantum devices, including the electron transport, the hole transport, and the Cooper pair transport. Devices in which InSb semiconductor nanowire quantum dots are coupled with normal metals, superconductors or the proximity effect induced topological superconductors are fabricated and measured. 4. Pregnancy in women with congenital heart disease
Abstract : Abstract Background: The survival for children born with congenital heart disease (CHD) has increased and the majority reach adult age. Having a cardiac problem raise questions on the probability of successful pregnancies and predictors associated with unfavorable outcome. READ MORE

5. Genetic polymorphisms in breast cancer in relation to risk and prognosis
Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women living in Sweden and the second most common cancer in the rest of the world. The risk of developing breast cancer is modified by environment, lifestyle, genetics and a combination of these factors. READ MORE
