  1. 21. QSBMR Quantitative Structure Biomagnification Relationships : Studies Regarding Persistent Environmental Pollutants in the Baltic Sea Biota

    Author : Katrin Lundstedt-Enkel; Jan Örberg; Per Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biomagnification; Multivariate modelling of environmental data; Transport of contaminants; Environmental toxicology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : I have studied persistent environmental pollutants in herring (Clupea harengus), in adult guillemot (Uria aalge) and in guillemot eggs from the Baltic Sea. The studied contaminants were organochlorines (OCs); dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), and brominated flame retardants (BFRs); polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD). 2. 22. A multivariate approach to the analysis of phytoplankton pigments

    Author : Ludvig Moberg; Olav Kvalheim; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Växtplankton; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Photosynthetic pigments are routinely determined in investigations of marine and freshwater environments, chlorophyll is used as an estimator of phytoplankton biomass. Photosynthetic pigments are also widely used to characterise phytoplankton taxonomic composition. READ MORE

  3. 23. Analytics-driven approaches supporting asset management of sanitary sewer networks

    Author : Emmanuel Okwori; Annelie Hedström; Maria Viklander; Marius Møller Rokstad; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Data-driven; Decision Support; Network Robustness; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Sewer blockages can cause overflows and flooding, with consequences such as damage to property and environmental pollution, risks to public health and economic loss. Despite the causes being understood, blockages in sewer networks may occur unpredictably. READ MORE

  4. 24. Calibration of Urban Network Capacities

    Author : Guang Wei; Gunnar Flötteröd; Joakim Ekström; Zhenliang Ma; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Capacity of a road in an urban network is defined as the maximum number of vehicles which could pass this road in a unit time. Since travel delays occur when the travel demand exceeds the capacity, performance of congestion estimation strongly depends on capacity values. READ MORE

  5. 25. Temporal and spatial variation of radiocaesium in moose (Alces alces) following the Chernobyl fallout in Sweden : analyses of data from long-term monitoring in two specific areas

    Author : Robert Weimer; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In my thesis, I have analysed long-term monitoring data of ¹³⁷Cs activity concentrations in moose (Alces alces) from the two Swedish municipalities Heby and Gävle. These study areas are adjacent and dominated by managed coniferous forests. The percentage of farmland in Heby is 20% but only 4% in the Gävle area. READ MORE
