  2. 2. Mechanisms of Blister Formation on Concrete Bridge Decks with Waterprooving Asphalt Pavement Systems

    Author : Biruk Wobeshet Hailesilassie; Björn Birgisson; Lars-Olof Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blister growth; PBM waterproofing membrane; orthotropic material; biaxial test; peeling test; elliptical blister growth;

    Abstract : Bridge decks are commonly subjected to harsh environmental conditions that often lead to serious corrosion problems triggered by blisters under the hot mix asphalt bridge deck surfacing and secretly evolving during weather exposure until damage is often detected too late. Blisters may form under both the waterproofing dense mastic asphalt layer or under the waterproofing membrane which is often applied as additional water protection under the mastic asphalt (MA). 3. 3. Pretreatment and Enzymatic Treatment of Spruce : A functional designed wood components separation for a future biorefinery

    Author : Yan Wang; Gunnar Henriksson; Mikael E. Lindström; Hans Theliander; Martin Lawoko; Adriaan van Heiningen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft cooking; extended impregnation; enzymes; chemo-enzymatic separation process; peeling reaction; sodium borohydride; polysulfide; anthraquinone; sodium dithionite; mild steam explosion; biorefinery.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : The three main components of wood, namely, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can be used in various areas. However, since lignin covalently crosslinks with wood polysaccharides creating networks that is an obstacle for extraction, direct extraction of different wood components in high yield is not an easy matter. 4. 4. Interfibre Joint Strength under Mixed Modes of Loading

    Author : Mikael S. Magnusson; Sören Östlund; Kaarlo Niskanen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Interfibre joint strength; fibre-fibre cross; paper mechanics; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : The load carrying capacity of interbre joints are one of the key entities for build-up of strength inpaper materials. In order to gain insight in how to tailor the macroscopic properties of such materialsby chemical and/or mechanical treatments at a microscopic level, direct measurement of individualbre{bre crosses are typically performed. 5. 5. Industrially Pre-Treated Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) Served in Large-Scale Food Service Systems

    Author : Klara Sjölin; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potatoes Solanum tuberosum L. ; large-scale food service system; Industrial pre-treatment; subsurface hardening; Potatoes Solanum tuberosum L. ; subsurface hardening; industrial pre-treatment; large-scale food service systems;

    Abstract : In Swedish schools, a warm lunch is served every day. The lunch is prepared in a largescale food service system and includes steam-cooked potatoes several times per week. The potatoes are often industrially pre-treated to facilitate the handling and logistics required to cook hundreds of meals in a couple of hours. READ MORE
