1. Identification and Characterization of Peptides and Proteins using Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Mass spectrometry has in recent years been established as the standard method for protein identification and characterization in proteomics with excellent intrinsic sensitivity and specificity. Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance is the mass spectrometric technique that provides the highest resolving power and mass accuracy, increasing the amount of information that can be obtained from complex samples. 2. Method and technique development in peptide and protein mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Mechanistic studies and applicability of several methods and techniques for studying peptides and proteins with mass spectrometry are presented. A model for the protein molecular ion formation in explosive matrix-assisted plasma desorption mass spectrometry is proposed, involving a contribution from the chemical energy release during conversion of the explosive, an enhanced protonation through collisions with products from the explosive decay, and electron scavenging by other products. 4. New Proteomics Methods and Fundamental Aspects of Peptide Fragmentation
Abstract : The combination of collision-activated dissociation, (CAD) and electron capture dissociation, (ECD) yielded a 125% increase in protein identification. The S-score was developed for measuring the information content in MS/MS spectra. This measure made it possible to single out good quality spectra that were not identified by a search engine. 5. Array-based Autoantibody Profiling and Epitope Mapping
Abstract : Antibodies are a class of proteins that are made by the immune system to recognize harmful organisms and molecules. Their exceptional capability of specifically recognizing molecules has been investigated for over a century and information thereof has been utilized for a variety of applications including vaccine and generation of therapeutic antibodies.
