  1. 1. Fabrication and characterization of periodically poled KTB and RB-doped KTB for applications in the visible and UV

    Author : Shunhua Wang; Fredrik Laurell; Peter Smith; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nonlinear optics; second-harmonic generation; quasi-phasematching; type-I QPM SHG; type-II QPM SHG; KTP; RKTP; periodic electric-field poling; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the fabrication and the characterization of periodically-poled crystals for use in lasers to generate visible and UV radiation by second-harmonic generation (SHG) through quasi-phasematching (QPM). Such lasers are of practical importance in many applications like high-density optical storage, biomedical instrumentation, colour printing, and for laser displays. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optical parametric amplification with periodically poled KTiOPO4

    Author : Anna Fragemann; Fredrik Laurell; Ebrahim-Zadeh Majid; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nonlinear optics; optical parametric amplification; optical parametric generation; optical parametric oscillation; Optical physics; Optisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the use of engineered nonlinear crystals from the KTiOPO4 (KTP) family as the gain material in optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs), with the aim to achieve more knowledge about the benefits and limitations of these devices. The work aims further at extending the possible applications of OPAs by constructing and investigating several efficient and well performing amplifiers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fabrication of periodically poled crystals from the KTP family and their applications in nonlinear optics

    Author : Håkan Karlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Quasi-phasematched (QPM) nonlinear optical frequencyconversion is a powerful tool in the development of new lasersources, by providing high conversion efficiency and largeflexibility in terms of output wavelengths.QPM structures are preferably implemented in bulk crystalsbe periodic electric field poling. 4. 4. QPM Devices in KTA and RKTP

    Author : Andrius Zukauskas; Carlota Canalias; Moti Katz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QPM; periodic poling; KTP;

    Abstract : Even though KTiOPO4 (KTP) is considered to be one of the best nonlinear materials for quasi phase matched (QPM) frequency conversion in the visible and the near-infrared spectral regions, its use is often limited by poor material homogeneity, high ionic conductivity, a considerable linear absorption and photochromatic damage. On the other hand, the improved material homogeneity and the lower ionic conductivity of bulk Rb-doped KTP (RKTP) make this material an ideal alternative for fabrication of fine-pitch QPM gratings, while the arsenate isomorph KTiOAsO4 (KTA) promises a better performance in the green spectral region and adds the advantage of a wider transparency window in the infrared. 5. 5. Spectral control of lasers and optical parametric oscillators with volume Bragg gratings

    Author : Björn Jacobsson; Fredrik Laurell; Uwe Morgner; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; volume Bragg gratings; single-longitudinal-mode laser; laser tuning; erbium; neodymium; ytterbium; nonlinear optics; optical parametric oscillator; KTP; tunable optical parametric oscillator; narrowband optical parametric oscillator; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : I den här avhandlingen visas hur lasrar och optiska parametriska oscillatorer (OPO:er) kan styras spektralt med hjälp av volymbraggitter. Volymbraggitter utgörs av ett periodiskt varierande brytningsindex som skrivits i ett fototermorefraktivt glas. READ MORE
