  1. 1. Influence of aggregates on permanent deformation of asphalt

    Author : Bernardita Francisca Lira Miranda; Robert Lundström; Stefan Larsson; Alan Carter; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Asphalt; deformation; rutting; gradation; flakiness index; Asfalt; kornstorleksfördelning; flisighetsindex; permanent deformation; spårbildning.; Jord- och bergmekanik; Soil and Rock Mechanics;

    Abstract : One of the most common failure modes for asphalt pavements is the occurrence of permanent deformation on the wheel path. This leads to not only other distresses, such as potholes and stripping, but also decreases substantially road safety and increases maintenance costs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Analyses of Resilient Behavior of Unbound Materials for the Purpose of Predicting Permanent Deformation Behavior

    Author : Jan Englund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Permanent Deformation; Unbound Material; Resilient Deformation; Post Compaction; Falling Weight Deflectometer FWD ; Triaxial Testing; Heavy Vehicle Simulator HVS ; Modulus;

    Abstract : Post compaction is the unintended compaction of the unbound material that commences immediately after a road is brought into service and caused by densification of the material. Analogies to this post compaction can also be seen in laboratory and field tests. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanistic-Empirical Modeling of Permanent Deformation in Asphalt Concrete Layers

    Author : Erik Oscarsson; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; permanent deformation; modeling; Mechanistic-Empirical; rutting; asphalt concrete; full-scale pavements;

    Abstract : Three mechanistic-empirical permanent deformation models were evaluated under Swedish conditions with respect to traffic, climate and materials using accelerated pavement testing and long-term pavement performance studies. The mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide (M E PDG), the incremental-recursive mechanistic-empirical CalME model (CalME), and the PErmanent Deformation of asphalt concrete layer for ROads (PEDRO) model generally showed both useful features and limitations. 4. 4. Torque and Angle Controlled Tightening of Bolted Joints

    Author : Göran Toth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; torque controlled tightening; deformation parameters; momentary elongation; deformation factor; torque; Bolted screwed joints; spring characteristic; Torx; torque and angle controlled tightening; hexalobular; final torque; snug torque; Taylor’s series expansions; preload; plastic deformation; permanent elongation; yield; friction diameter; plastic spring constant; clevis; turn-of-nut method; bearing surface pressure; twisting; Monte-Carlo simulations;

    Abstract : Reduced weight and fuel consumption, improved reliability and engine performance are the main requirements in the automotive industry of today. These requirements demand robust and optimized bolted joints, where a high amount of preload obtained by effective utilisation of the bolt is essential. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analysis of Response and Development of Permanent Deformation of Unbound Granular Materials Using a Testing Box Technique

    Author : Ebrahim Parhamifar; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Unbound granular materials; testing box; response; permanent deformation;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to study the response and development of permanent deformation in unbound granular materials, theoretically and experimentally. A testing box technique is used here to more closely simulate the behaviour of unbound aggregates subjected to external vertical loading. READ MORE
