  3. 3. Objects in Time : Studies of Persistence in B-time

    University dissertation from Department of Philosophy, Lund University

    Author : Tobias Hansson Wahlberg; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; three-dimensionalism.; B-time; stage theory; tenselessness; persistence; perdurance; mereology; four-dimensionalism; dispositions; endurance; B-theory of time; change; temporary intrinsics;

    Abstract : This thesis is about the conceptualization of persistence of physical, middle-sized objects within the theoretical framework of the revisionary ‘B-theory’ of time. According to the B-theory, time does not flow, but is an extended and inherently directed fourth dimension along which the history of the universe is ‘laid out’ once and for all. READ MORE

  4. 4. Partitioning and persistence of volatile methylsiloxanes in aquatic environments

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Environmental Science and Analytical Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Author : Dimitrios Panagopoulos; Stockholms universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; siloxanes; organic carbon; sediment; partitioning; persistence; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : The presence of volatile methylsiloxanes (VMS) in the environment has raised concerns among environmental chemists and regulators about their persistence and the risks they may pose to the environment. This thesis explores the partitioning and persistence of VMS in aquatic environments. READ MORE

  5. 5. The measurement of chemical persistence in the field by benchmarking Theory and Experiment

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Environmental Science and Analytical Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Author : Hongyan Zou; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chemical benchmarking; persistence; half-lives; modeling; threshold benchmarking; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Persistence is one of the core criteria in chemical exposure and hazard assessment. It is often defined as the half-life for the removal of a chemical from a specified environment by transformation. Chemicals with long transformation half-lives may pose high risks for wildlife or humans and be subject to long-range transport to remote areas. READ MORE
