  1. 1. Electron-Lattice Dynamics in pi-Conjugated Systems

    Author : Magnus Hultell (Andersson); Sven Stafström; Alexander Onipko; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polaron dynamics; Exciton dynamics; pi-conjugated systems; Su-Schrieffer-Heeger SSH model; Adiabaticity; Charge carrier transport; Organic electronics.; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we explore in particular the dynamics of a special type of quasi-particle in pi-conjugated materials termed polaron, the origin of which is intimately related to the strong interactions between the electronic and the vibrational degrees of freedom within these systems. In order to conduct such studies with the particular focus of each appended paper, we simultaneously solve the time-dependent Schrödinger equation and the lattice equation of motion with a three-dimensional extension of the famous Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model Hamiltonian. 3. 3. Charge dynamics and electronic structure of pi-conjugated systems

    Author : Åsa Johansson; Michael Springborg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The research presented in this theses deals with the electronic properties of 1rconjugated molecular systems. Charge dynamics has been studied in order to get a better understanding of the physical processes behind charge transport in these materials, intended to be used in organic molecular electronic devices. 4. 4. Energy and Electron Transfer in Porphyrin-Based Donor--Bridge--Acceptor Systems

    Author : Kristine Kilså; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron transfer; electronic coupling; donor--bridge--acceptor systems; quantum mechanical calculations; enhanced intersystem crossing; ligand and solvent effects; bridge mediation; energy transfer; porphyrin;

    Abstract : The photophysical properties of supramolecular donor--bridge--acceptor systems have been investigated by spectroscopic and quantum mechanical methods. The systems consist of porphyrin donor and acceptor moieties linked by bridging chromophores of varying excitation energy, and are shown to be geometrically well-defined in terms of length and rotational conformation.
