  1. 1. Pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide : Expression and neurotrophic activity in the rat brain

    Author : Ylva Skoglösa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; in situ hybridisation; rat; TBI; BDNF; NGF; GDNF; PACAP; PRI; TUNEL; apoptosis; CNS; PNS; neuropeptides; neurotrophic factors; reactive oxygen species; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; Neurology; neurologi;

    Abstract : Neurotrophic factors play an important role in regulating naturally occurring cell death during neurogenesis. In addition to classical neurotrophic factors, some neurotransmitters and neuropeptides have been shown to exhibit neurotrophic activities. READ MORE

  2. 2. Aspects of aqueous humor dynamics : Studies in vivo and in vitro

    Author : Maria Samuelsson-Almén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology and anatomy; Aqneous humor flow; intraocular pressure; adenylate cyclase; nonpigmented ciliary epithelium; pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; dopamine; prostaglandin; Fysiologi och anatomi; Physiology and pharmacology; Fysiologi och farmakologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Abstract : The purpose of the present investigation was to study the effects of PGF2α-l-isopropylester, some neuropeptides, and pharmacological agents on aqueous humor dynamics and intraocular pressure (IOP) in vivo and on adenylate cyclase activity in the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium (NPE) in vitro.Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) caused a dose-dependent increase in cAMP formation, indicating that the NPE contains receptors for PACAP and VIP coupled to adenylate cyclase activation. 3. 3. Pituitary Adenylate Cyclase Activating Peptide (PACAP): An Experimental Study On the Expression and Regulation in the Peripheral Nervous System

    Author : Kristian Moller; Neuroendokrin cellbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytokemi; histokemi; Histologi; vävnadskultur; Histology; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with PACAP and PACAP type-1 receptors in the sensory and autonomic parts of the peripheral nervous system. In the rat, PACAP is expressed in small-sized sensory neurons and in C-fibers. READ MORE

  4. 4. The neuropeptides GRP and PACAP and the function of the endocrine pancreas - A study on receptor deficient mice

    Author : Kristin Persson; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; hypoglycemia; glucagon; insulin; islet of Langerhans; diabetes; PACAP; neuropeptides; GRP; diabetologi;

    Abstract : The parasympathetic nerves are important for the regulation of insulin secretion, in particular after meal intake. Apart from acetylcholine, several neuropeptides can be found in the parasympathetic nerves innervating the islets of Langerhans, including gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP). 5. 5. Physiological and pathophysiological regulation of ECL-cell activity

    Author : Maria Lundgren; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacy; toxicology; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; Gastroenterologi; endothelin; gastrin; ischemia-reperfusion; Physiology; Fysiologi; Gastro-enterology; pancreastatin; histamine; microdialysis; ECL-cell; stomach; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Abstract : The ECL cells are endocrine/paracrine cells located in the acid-producing part of the stomach. They produce and secrete histamine and chromogranin A-derived peptides in response to circulating gastrin. Mobilized histamine stimulates acid secretion from adjascent parietal cells. READ MORE
