  1. 1. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes

    Author : Tiesheng Shi; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thiol; l-methionine; maleic acid; carboxylic acid; thioether; platinum IV ; palladium II ; linear free energy relationship; volumes of activation; structure-reactivity correlation; reduction; substitution; equilibria; kinetics; mechanism; glutathione; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. READ MORE

  2. 2. Platinum-free Electrocatalysts : Design, Synthesis, and Energy Applications

    Author : Yi Yang; Inna Soroka; Carina Lagergren; Serhiy Cherevko; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pt-free electrocatalysts; γ-radiation induced synthesis; size; morphology; structure; and composition of nanocatalysts; ORR; catalytic activity and durability; formation mechanism of catalyst materials in aqueous solutions.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Pt is one of the most commonly used catalysts for green energy applications, such as fuel cells, electrolyzers, and dye-sensitized solar cells. Although enormous effort has been put into improving the catalytic activity and minimizing the usage of Pt in the catalysts, the low abundance and high price of Pt still limit the large-scale commercialization of green energy devices and facilities. 3. 3. Advances in analytical methodologies for studies of the platinum metallome in malignant cells exposed to cisplatin

    Author : Yvonne Nygren; Erik Björn; Knut Irgum; Bente Gammelgaard; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Method development; Metallome; Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry; Liquid chromatography; Hyphenation; Organic modifier; Cisplatin; Platinum; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : The scientific progress about the important chemotherapeutic drug substance cisplatin (CDDP) and its function has often been rendered by data difficult to interpret, and still many questions about its mode of action remains to be clarified by the scientific community. However, studies of CDDP possess a high complexity due to; i) low intracellular concentration, ii) many potential biomolecule targets, iii) poor or unknown stability of the intact drug and its biomolecule adducts and iv) complex and varying sample matrices. 4. 4. Compounds with Non-Buttressed Metal-Metal Bond between Platinum and Thallium. Model Systems for Photoinduced Two-Electron-Transfer

    Author : Mikhail Maliarik; KTH; []
    Keywords : thallium; platinum; cyanide; metal-metal bond; non-buttressed; heterometallic; photoinduced; electron transfer; redox reaction; NMR; chemical shift; spin-spin coupling constant; Raman; EXAFS; X-ray diffraction; equilibrium; oxidation state; oxidative;

    Abstract : A new family of oligonuclear cyano compounds incorporatingtransition (Pt) and main group (Tl) metals bound with anon-buttressed Pt-Tl bond was synthesised in aqueous solution.The metal-metal linkage is formed in the reaction betweenplatinum and thallium in their stable oxidation forms, Pt(II)and Tl(III), orvice versa: Pt(IV) and Tl(I). 5. 5. Catalytic combustion of gasified waste

    Author : Henrik Kusar; KTH; []
    Keywords : Catalytic combustion; Gasified waste; LHV-fuel; RDF; Biomass; Selective catalytic oxidation; NH3; NOX; Palladium; Platinum; Hexaaluminate; Garnet; Spinel; Deactivation; Sulphur; Poisoning;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns catalytic combustion for gas turbineapplication using a low heating-value (LHV) gas, derived fromgasified waste. The main research in catalytic combustionfocuses on methane as fuel, but an increasing interest isdirected towards catalytic combustion of LHV fuels. READ MORE
