  1. 1. Prevention of Biofilm Formation on Silicone Rubber Materials for Outdoor High Voltage Insulators

    Author : Sevil Atari Jabarzadeh; Sigbritt Karlsson; Ferruccio Doghieri; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High voltage insulator; silicone rubber; biofouling; biofilm; biocide; superhydrophobicity; self-cleaning; hierarchical roughness;

    Abstract : Microbial colonization on the surface of silicone rubber high voltage outdoor insulators often results in the formation of highly hydrated biofilm that influence the surface properties, such as surface hydrophobicity. The loss of hydrophobicity might lead to dry band formation, and, in the worst cases, flashover and failure of the insulator. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ordering in Crystalline Short-Chain Polymer Electrolytes

    Author : Anti Liivat; Joseph Nordgren; Josh Thomas; Daniel Brandell; David Brown; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Atomic and molecular physics; polymer electrolytes; molecular dynamics; ionic conductivity; crystalline ordering; polymer chain length; smectic; nematic; Atom- och molekylfysik;

    Abstract : Polymer electrolytes are the most obvious candidates for safe "all-solid" Li-ion batteries and other electrochemical devices. However, they still have relatively poor ionic conductivities, which limits their wider adoption in commercial applications. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electrolyte-Gated Organic Thin-Film Transistors

    Author : Lars Herlogsson; Magnus Berggren; Hagen Klauk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organic electronics; Thin-film transistor; Organic semiconductor; Polymer; Electrolyte; Polyelectrolyte; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : There has been a remarkable progress in the development of organic electronic materials since the discovery of conducting polymers more than three decades ago. Many of these materials can be processed from solution, in the form as inks. READ MORE

  4. 4. Stabilizers in crosslinked polydimethylsiloxane

    Author : Kamyar Fateh-Alavi; KTH; []
    Keywords : Polymer; Material Science; Polydimethylsiloxane; Stabilizers;

    Abstract : The loss and recovery of the surface hydrophobicity areimportant phenomena when highvoltage insulators, with a shedmaterial composed of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), are used. Theloss of hydrophobicity is mostly due to the oxidativecrosslinking which takes place on the PDMS surface duringexposure to electrical discharges, e. g. corona discharges. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electronic Control of Cell Cultures Using Conjugated Polymer Surfaces

    Author : Kristin Persson; Magnus Berggren; Edwin Jager; Peter Konradsson; Mihai Irimia-Vladu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In the field of bioelectronics various electronic materials and devices are used in combination with biological systems in order to create novel applications within cell biology and medicine. A famous example of a successful bioelectronics application is the pacemaker. READ MORE
