  1. 1. Implementation and Application of Fracture Mechanics Models for Concrete Structures

    Author : Magnus Åkesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bond slip; concrete cracking; abstract data types; prestressing; enhanced strain;

    Abstract : Two numerical models for simulation of concrete cracking and bond slip have been implemented and applied in various comparative analyses. Both models were implemented in the commercial finite element system ABAQUS. READ MORE

  2. 2. Strengthening reinforced concrete structures with FRP composites

    Author : Jincheng Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GFRP; finite element analysis.; corrosion; interfacial stress; externally bonded reinforcement; self-anchorage; CFRP; debonding; concrete structures; Fibre reinforced polymer; prestressing level;

    Abstract : Civil infrastructures made of reinforced concrete (RC) play an important role in the economic activities and services of society. However, signs of deterioration and functional deficiency are commonly found in existing RC structures. Thus, there is a great demand for upgrading the capacity and performance of existing concrete structures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural assessment procedures for existing concrete bridges : Experiences from failure tests of the Kiruna Bridge

    Author : Niklas Bagge; Björn Täljsten; Paulo Cruz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anchorage; carbon fibre reinforced polymers; concrete; existing bridges; finite element analysis; flexure; full-scale test; load-carrying capacity; residual prestress force; punching; safety verification; shear; structural assessment; structural behaviour; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Assessing existing bridges is an important task in the sustainable management ofinfrastructure. In practice, structural bridge assessments are usually conducted usingtraditional and standardised methods, despite knowledge that these methods oftenprovide conservative estimates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Flexural Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Externally Bonded CFRP--An Innovative Method for the Application of Prestressed CFRP Laminates

    Author : Jincheng Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; interfacial stress; anchorage; mesh sensitivity; externally bonded; reinforced concrete; flexural strengthening; optimization; smeared length; finite element modeling; carbon fiber reinforced polymer CFRP ; stepwise prestressing; debonding;

    Abstract : A large number of existing bridges in European countries are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete due to the deterioration of aging bridges and the lack of structural and geometric capacity to accommodate the increasing traffic volume and load levels. To meet the demand for holistic and effective strengthening techniques the SUREBRIDGE solution is proposed for the refurbishment of concrete bridges, which includes the technique of using prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate as externally bonded reinforcement for flexural strengthening. 5. 5. Assessment of Long-Term Losses in Prestressed Concrete Structures - Application for Nuclear Reactor Containments

    Author : Peter Lundqvist; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; KstrConcrete; Nuclear reactor containments; prestressed concrete; prestress losses; bonded tendons; creep; shrinkage; relaxation; prediction models; resonance frequency; acoustoelasticity.;

    Abstract : Most nuclear reactors, both in Sweden and worldwide, are enclosed by a prestressed concrete containment. The main purpose of the containment is to prevent any radioactive discharge to the environment in the event of a major internal accident. READ MORE
