1. Melanization and Hemocyte Homeostasis in the Freshwater Crayfish, Pacifastacus leniusculus
Abstract : Blood cells or hemocytes play important roles in immunity. They are a major source of many immune-related molecules such as antibodies in adaptive immunity of vertebrates and prophenoloxidase (proPO) in invertebrates. READ MORE

2. Hematopoiesis in a Crustacean
Abstract : Hemocytes (blood cells) play an important role in the immune response in invertebrates, and thus the regulation of hemocyte homeostasis (hematopoiesis) is essential for the host survival against pathogens. Astakine 1, a homologue to vertebrate prokineticins, was first identified in the freshwater crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus as a cytokine, and was found to be necessary for new hemocyte synthesis and release in vivo, and also to induce spreading and proliferation of Hematopoietic tissue cells (Hpt cells, precursor of hemocytes) in vitro. 3. Peripheral immunity in patients with autoimmune endocrine diseases and the influence of physiological adaptions during pregnancy
Abstract : Type 1 diabetes (T1D), Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), Graves’ disease (GD), and autoimmune Addison’s disease (AD) appear to share immunogenetic mechanisms. This idea is not novel, as “autoimmune tautology” is an established concept. READ MORE

4. Hematopoiesis, Kazal Inhibitors and Crustins in a Crustacean
Abstract : Hemocytes are important as storage and producers of proteins of the innate immune defence, as well as actors of the cellular immune response. Therefore the hematopoietic process is critical for survival of most invertebrates. READ MORE

5. Effects of insulin on the decidualization of human endometrial stromal cells : in vitro studies
Abstract : Hyperinsulinemia is a known characteristic of obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome, two common clinical conditions associated with reproductive problems. However, the underlying mechanisms to reduced fertility are not fully elucidated, and the role of insulin in reproduction needs further investigation. READ MORE
