21. On the interaction between wort protein and iso-humulone : A study of surface rheology, interfacial structures and particle formation with the relevance to beer foam
Abstract : Beer is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Foam is a unique characteristic of beer, contributing to mouthfeelings and visual perceptions. Therefore, it would be worthwhile to study the solution and interfacial properties ofbeer and assess them with regards to foam. READ MORE

22. Orientation and Conformation of Single Macromolecules on Unmodified and Functionalized Surfaces
Abstract : In this thesis methods for investigation of orientation and conformation of individual macromolecules on surfaces are presented as well as novel methods for functionalization of silicon chips with the possibility to get an ordered immobilization of antibodies. Two novel methods are presented which makes it possible to investigate the orientation of individual macromolecules on different kinds of surfaces with AFM. READ MORE

23. Surface proteins of pathogenic streptococci
Abstract : Streptococcus pyogenes (group A streptococcus) and the group B streptococcus (GBS) are two important human pathogens that cause different types of diseases and express different surface structures implicated in virulence. This thesis focuses on several surface proteins expressed by these pathogens, analyzing the biological function of these proteins and their ability to elicit protective immunity. READ MORE

24. Engineering of small IgG binding domains for antibody labelling and purification
Abstract : In protein engineering, rational design and selection from combinatorial libraries are methods used to develop proteins with new or improved features. A very important protein for the biological sciences is the antibody that is used as a detecting agent in numerous laboratory assays. READ MORE

25. Biosensor surface chemistry for oriented protein immobilization and biochip patterning
Abstract : This licentiate thesis is focused on two methods for protein immobilization to biosensor surfaces for future applications in protein microarray formats. The common denominator is a surface chemistry based on a gold substrate with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of functionalized alkanethiolates. READ MORE
