1. Excursions Along the Drip Line
Abstract : The drip lines are the outer boundaries of the chart of the nuclides, terminating the isobaric chains on both sides of the valley of .beta.-stability with respect to stability against particle emission. The neutron drip line is, at the moment, only experimentally accessible for the very lightest elements. READ MORE

2. Gamow -Teller Beta Decay in Drip Line Nuclei
Abstract : Before radioactive ion beams became available, the Gamow-Teller (GT) giant resonance was studied using charge-exchange reactions such as (p,n) and (He,t). In beta-stable nuclei, which can be used as targets, the GT giant resonance lies above the ground state of the mother nucleus. READ MORE

3. Probing the Drip-Lines through Momentum Distributions
Abstract : About a decade ago it was found that nuclei in the vicinity of the neutron drip-line under certain circumstances develop very extended valence neutron distributions, a phenomenon today known as halo states. The recent development of radioactive nuclear beams has provided us with a perfect tool for investigating these particular nuclei. READ MORE

4. Structure of Deformed Proton-rich Nuclei Studied by Beta-decay
Abstract : Nuclear structure is studied using beta-decay reactions as a probe and focusing on medium-heavy proton-rich nuclei. One of the included articles is a systematic study covering a major part of the nuclear chart, especially searching for nuclei which may be sensitive to sub-MeV neutrinos... READ MORE

5. In-Beam Spectroscopy of the Extremely Neutron Deficient Nuclei 169Ir and 110Xe
Abstract : This thesis describes new results obtained from experimental studies of the extremely neutron-deficient isotopes 169Ir and 110Xe, close to the proton drip-line. The experiments use state-of-the-art equipment for nuclear spectroscopy where a large high-resolution Germanium-detector array is coupled to a high-transmission recoil separator and using the highly selective recoil-decay tagging technique.
