  1. 1. ZnO Quantum Dots : Size Dependent Optical, Vibrational and Photoelectrochemical Properties

    Author : Jesper Jacobsson; Tomas Edvinsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ZnO; nanoparticels; quantum dots; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to quantum dots of ZnO in the size regime 2.5-10 nm.The focus is directed towards their size dependent properties with specialemphasis on the optical, vibrational and photocatalytic properties. The particleswere synthesized by hydrolysis in alkaline zinc acetate solution. READ MORE

  2. 2. For a Fistful of Qubits: Computational Quantum Chemistry on Near-Term Quantum Computers

    Author : Mårten Skogh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nonadiabatic processes; quantum error mitigation; variational quantum algorithms; quantum computation; computational chemistry;

    Abstract : Quantum computing has been touted as a great new frontier of computation, pushing the limits of what we consider within reach of computation. While not all problems are expected to be efficiently solved by a quantum computer, quantum chemistry is among those where many have speculated on near-term quantum advantage. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ensembles and Open Quantum Systems in Polaritonic Chemistry

    Author : Eric Davidsson; Markus Kowalewski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polaritonic Chemistry; Optical Cavities; Open Quantum Systems; Quantum Simulations; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : Optical cavities—where spatial confinement can focus electromagnetic excitations—are able to couple matter to light with enough strength that the behaviour of the combined system is best understood in terms of polaritonic states; mixtures of excitations in both light and matter. This polaritonic regime provides a novel approach for modification and control of chemical reactions, and lately, experimental advancements are realising this potential. READ MORE

  4. 4. On relations between classical and quantum theories of information and probability

    Author : Peter Nyman; Andrei Khrennikov; Sergei Kozyrev; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Born’s rule; Clifford algebra; Deutsch-Josza algorithm; Grover’s algorithm; Hyperbolic interferences; Inverse Born’s rule problem; Probabilistic data; Quantum computing; Quantum error-correcting; Quantum-like representation algorithm; Shor’s algorithm; Simon’s algorithm; Simulation of quantum algorithms; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study quantum-like representation and simulation of quantum algorithms by using classical computers.The quantum--like representation algorithm (QLRA) was  introduced by A. Khrennikov (1997) to solve the ``inverse Born's rule problem'', i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors

    Author : Heiner Linke; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum transport; two-dimensional electron gas; contact-free characterisation; ballistic transport; mesoscopic; electron billiard; quantum dot; electron-electron interaction; non-linear; phase breaking; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Linke; non-symmetric conductio; Semiconductory physics; low-dimensional structures;

    Abstract : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation.
