  1. 1. Ga-actions on Complex Affine Threefolds

    Author : Isac Hedén; Heinz Fieseler; Lucy Moser-Jauslin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complex affine varieties; algebraic group actions of C^ and C^*; locally nilpotent derivations; graded algebras; principal bundles; Russell s hypersurface;

    Abstract : This  thesis  consists  of two papers  and  a summary.  The  papers  both  deal with  affine algebraic complex  varieties,  and  in particular such  varieties  in dimension  three  that have a non-trivial action  of one of the  one-dimensional  algebraic  groups  Ga   :=  (C, +) and  Gm  :=  (C*, ·). 2. 2. Ekedahl Invariants, Veronese Modules and Linear Recurrence Varieties

    Author : Ivan Martino; Anders Björner; Volkmar Welker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ekedahl Invariants; Noether Problem; Bogomolov Multiplier; Cyclic quotient singularities; Veronese Modules; Pile simplicial complex; Semigroup Rings; Betti Numbers; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : The title of this thesis refers to the three parts of which it is composed.The first part concerns the Ekedahl Invariants, new geometric invariants for finite groups introduced in 2009 by Torsten Ekedahl. READ MORE

  3. 3. Boundary Estimates for Solutions to Parabolic Equations

    Author : Olow Sande; Kaj Nyström; Maciej Klimek; Juha Kinnunen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Uniformly parabolic equations; non-linear parabolic equations; linear growth; degenerate parabolic equations; fractional heat equations; complex coefficients; Lipschitz domain; NTA domain; boundary behaviour; boundary Harnack; parabolic measure; Riesz measure; Dirichlet to Neumann map; single layer potentials.; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the boundary behavior of solutions to parabolic equations. It consists of a comprehensive summary and four scientific papers. The equations concerned are different generalizations of the heat equation.Paper I concerns the solutions to non-linear parabolic equations with linear growth. READ MORE

  4. 4. Applications of the Complex Modulation Transfer Function on SEA-systems

    Author : Karl-Ola Lundberg; Teknisk akustik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; hydraulics; Mechanical engineering; modulated noise; in-situ; modulation transfer function; loss factor; SEA; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Abstract : The SEA coupling and dissipation loss factors are determined in-situ from Complex Modulation Transfer Functions, CMTF:s, based on measured impulse-responses. A quotient of CMTF:s is least-square curve-fitted to a SEA model and the SEA loss factors are determined from the results of the curve-fit. READ MORE
