  1. 1. Element 115

    Author : Ulrika Forsberg; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; superheavy elements; element 115; new elements; alpha decay; X rays; gamma rays; nuclear structure; spontaneous fission; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Forsberg; kärnstruktur; supertunga grundämnen; nya grundämnen; alfasönderfall; röntgenstrålning; gammastrålning; spontan fission; element 115; spektroskopi;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to detailed studies of element 115 decay chains using the highly efficient multi-coincidence alpha, electron, gamma and X-ray detector setup TASISpec at the gas-filled separator TASCA at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. In a three-week long experiment thirty new decay chains assumed to stem from element 115 isotopes were observed together with the very first detections of gamma rays and potential X-rays from these nuclei. 2. 2. Phase-Contrast X-Ray Carbon Dioxide Angiography

    Author : Ulf Lundström; Hans Hertz; Anna Burvall; Ulrich Vogt; Franz Pfeiffer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Phase-contrast x-ray imaging is an emerging technology, which allows for imaging of smaller features than conventional absorption-based x-ray imaging, with lower radiation dose. Instead of the attenuation that is normally used in x-ray imaging, it utilizes the phase shift introduced by an object to the transmitted x-rays. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular Structure and Packing of Platinum(II) Complexes with S-donor Ligands in the Solid State An X-ray Crystallographic Study

    Author : Christian Hansson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; low temperature; high-pressure; structural class concept; hydrogen bonding; intermolecular interactions; crystallography; platinum coordination compounds; packing; phase transitions; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : How do molecules arrange themselves in a crystal? It is today not possible to definite predict the three-dimensional packing arrangement of molecules in the crystalline solid state. The aim of the work presented in this thesis has been to gain more knowledge of what principles that govern molecular packing. READ MORE

  4. 4. Materials Science of Multilayer X-ray Mirrors

    Author : Naureen Ghafoor; Jens Birch; Claude Montcalm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soft X-rays; Multilayer mirrors; Magnetron sputtering; Interface engineering; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the reflective and structural properties of multilayer structures. Soft X-ray multilayer mirrors intended as near-normal incidence reflective optics and polarizers in the water window (λ=2.4-4.4 nm) are the main focus. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spectroscopy on the Dot : Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Time-Resolved Studies of Lead Sulfide Quantum Dots for Solar Cells

    Author : Tamara Sloboda; Ute B. Cappel; Andreas Lindblad; Lars Kloo; Regan Wilks; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Renewable energy is an important topic as global energy consumption continues to rise. Because the sun emits an enormous amount of energy, solar energy is a promising source. However, most of the commercial solar cell technology is manufactured in an energy demanding process and there is a need for new, easily processed materials. READ MORE
