6. Accurate Finite Difference Methods for Option Pricing
Abstract : Stock options are priced numerically using space- and time-adaptive finite difference methods. European options on one and several underlying assets are considered. These are priced with adaptive numerical algorithms including a second order method and a more accurate method. READ MORE

7. Solar Wind and Geomagnetic Activity - Predictions Using Neural Networks
Abstract : This thesis shows how artificial neural networks (ANNs) can be applied to predict geomagnetic activity from solar-wind data. It introduces and summarizes five papers where development of ANN models are reported, and where predictions of geomagnetic activity are discussed. READ MORE

8. Metamodel Based Multi-Objective Optimization with Finite-Element Applications
Abstract : As a result of the increase in accessibility of computational resources and the increase of computer power during the last two decades, designers are able to create computer models to simulate the behavior of complex products. To address global competitiveness, companies are forced to optimize the design of their products and production processes. READ MORE

9. Modeling and simulation of rotary bell spray atomizers in automotive paint shops
Abstract : The paint and surface treatment processes in automotive paint shops are characterized by multiphase and free surface flows, multiphysics interactions, multiscale phenomena, and large moving geometries. The current version of the software for simulation of spray painting developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre relies on measurements of droplet size distributions and velocity profiles below the applicator that can be used as input to the simulations. 10. Metal Hydrogen Interaction and Structural Characterization of Amorphous Materials from first principles
Abstract : In this thesis, first-principles calculations based on density functional theory have been employed to investigate metal hydrogen interaction in transition, p-block and rare earth metals. Furthermore, the accuracy of the stochastic quenching method was tested in describing the structure of amorphous Fe(1-x)Zrx. READ MORE
